The Director of Sales will be responsible for developing and executing sales strategies to meet revenue targets, managing a team of sales professionals, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement sales strategies to meet revenue and growth targets, identifying opportunities for new sales channels and leading the expansion into new markets.
  • Hire, manage, and provide coaching and support to a team of sales professionals to ensure they meet performance targets and provide excellent customer service.
  • Manage key client relationships, including identifying opportunities to upsell and cross-sell insurance products and services.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance products and services, ensuring that sales professionals are equipped to provide accurate and timely advice to clients.
  • Monitor sales performance and provide feedback and coaching to improve productivity and meet performance targets.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that the insurance division is integrated effectively with other business lines.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends and competitor activities and adjust strategies accordingly.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Proven sales leadership with the ability to build, motivate, and mentor a high‑performing Private Risk/Personal Lines sales team.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex risk concepts clearly and professionally to internal teams, carrier partners, centers of influence, and HNW clientele.
  • Deep understanding of the private client / personal lines risk landscape, including carriers, underwriting considerations, risk mitigation trends, and sophisticated coverage structures (e.g., high‑value homes, family offices, luxury autos, yachts, umbrellas).
  • Strategic sales planning expertise with a track record of developing and executing growth strategies that drive revenue, improve retention, and expand market presence within the affluent and HNW segments.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities, particularly in evaluating risk portfolios, identifying gaps, and recommending solutions aligned with client goals.

  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships with internal service teams, producers, marketing, and carrier partners to ensure a seamless client experience.
  • Proficiency with CRM and sales management tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and strong Excel skills for forecasting, reporting, and pipeline management.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and alignment with firm values, serving as a cultural champion and role model within the organization.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • 7–10 years of experience in Private Risk / Personal Lines insurance, preferably serving affluent or high‑net‑worth clients.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership or sales management experience, with a proven ability to lead teams, grow revenue, and cultivate producer performance.
  • Experience developing carrier relationships, negotiating with underwriters, and managing complex private client accounts is highly preferred.
