As a Teller, you will process transactions, provide customer support, minimize risks, and help meet financial needs while building relationships.

The Director of Social Impact will be a collaborative member of the Social Responsibility and Impact department which leads the league’s social impact, philanthropic, inclusivity, and cultural engagement partnerships and programs.  Under the leadership of the SVP, Social Responsibility, this role will manage a portfolio of internal programs, external partnerships, and serve as the point for MLB Club leaders who are ambassadors of inclusion and culture within their own Club markets.  This individual will drive strategy and league priorities through collaboration, communication, and relationship management.

Responsibilities 

  • Align nonprofit and professional development program partnerships with MLB/MiLB business objectives, core values of inclusivity, and social impact pillars; continuously assessing and refining strategy based on MLB goals, industry best practices, and internal stakeholder feedback.
  • Manage a portfolio of national and local partners that highlight fan-facing cultural initiatives at designated MLB Jewel events (i.e. All-Star Week) ensuring local stakeholders and MLB host Clubs are engaged in the process and execution.
  • Oversee programs designed to raise awareness and provide hands-on experience for HBCU and other collegiate students around careers in baseball.  Manage a select number of collaborative program partners and events tied to collegiate and professional development internships and experiences.
  • Collaborate with internal baseball operations colleagues on industry events such as MLB Winter Meetings to align social impact goals with opportunities to educate young professionals on various opportunities in baseball.
  • Lead the Katy Feeney leadership program designed to recognize Club and League individuals each year who demonstrate the leadership characteristics of a baseball front office trailblazer.  
  • Establish meaningful metrics and benchmarks to measure the effectiveness of impact programs toward league vision and goals. Regularly report progress to SVP and identify areas for long-term success.
  • Support SVP, Social Responsibility with the preparation of decks and other communication materials for ownership and executive meetings.
  • Lead and support management of relationships with key external stakeholders and partners, and potential consultants including the execution of deliverables.
  • Serve as a collaborative partner with HR colleagues in identifying professional development opportunities for league employees, including vetting organizations and opportunities as an appropriate fit for Major League Baseball.
  • Other responsibilities as identified.

Qualifications & Skills 

  • Proven experience and understanding of sports organizations with demonstrated success in managing nonprofit partners and social impact programs within the sports industry.  Experience working for a sports league or team required. 
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 8 - 10 years’ experience in leading social impact, non-profit management, employee engagement, and inclusion programming for a sports-related organization.
  • Event planning experience for large-scale industry gatherings, annual meetings and fan-facing engagements designed to raise the MLB brand.
  • Superior critical thinking, analytical, communication (written and verbal), and presentation skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders.
  • Understanding of social impact principles & cultural engagement best practices, with the ability to discern qualified partners and stay abreast of industry trends.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and follow-up skills with demonstrated success at helping to translate business needs into actionable, practical initiatives.
  • Excellent execution and project management skills, including the ability to plan, implement, and measure the impact of initiatives.
  • Experience operating in a face-paced, dynamic environment with competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Passion and ability to work across internal departments to achieve shared results.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and judgement including the ability to engage, coach, counsel, influence, and build trust and credibility.
  • Deep understanding of discretion and maintaining high levels of confidentiality.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel and work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Experience working both internally and externally with a variety of stakeholders
  • Multi-lingual (Spanish Speaking) is a plus but not required

Salary Range: $115,000 - $140,000

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related aspects of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB considers relevant to the hiring decision. In addition to your salary, MLB believes in providing a competitive compensation and benefits package for its employees.
