Coast is re-imagining the trillion-dollar U.S. B2B card payments infrastructure, with a focus on the country’s 500,000 commercial fleets, 40 million commercial vehicles, and many million commercial drivers. The incumbent technologies that cater to these customers are decades old, and drivers, fleets, and the merchants that serve them all increasingly demand modern digital experiences and affordable and transparent financial services products. Coast's mission is to deliver them at a transformational scale, and to improve working lives in one of the country’s biggest industry sectors. The company is backed by top fintech and mobility venture funds.

Coast is seeking a Head of Talent to build and lead our recruiting department. As our talent leader, you'll own the entire talent lifecycle, from strategy to execution. This is a unique opportunity to lead a talent acquisition function at a fast-growing start up, with a direct impact on our company's growth and culture.

What you’ll do:
  • Build the strategy: Design and execute a forward-looking talent strategy that aligns directly with our business goals. Define what great looks like, from workforce planning to employer branding.
  • Recruit top talent: Roll up your sleeves and lead full-cycle recruiting for high-impact roles across the company. Source, interview, and close candidates who raise the bar.
  • Scale the function: Hire, coach, and inspire a scrappy, ambitious recruiting team that’s obsessed with excellence.
Elevate the experience: Deliver a candidate journey that’s seamless, values-driven, and leaves every applicant wanting to work here even if they don’t get the job.
  • Partner with leaders: Act as a trusted advisor to hiring managers and executives, shaping hiring strategies that balance speed with quality.
Bring data to life: Establish clear recruiting metrics, report on progress, and continuously refine processes for efficiency and impact.
Grow our brand: Champion Coast as an employer of choice by amplifying our presence across social media, events, and industry partnerships.
  • Own the tools: Manage our ATS and recruiting tech stack to keep things smooth, scalable, and data-driven.
What you’ll bring:
  • 7+ years of progressive talent acquisition experience, including 4+ years leading in fast-growth, startup environments.
  • A proven track record of building and scaling a recruiting function from scratch.
  • Deep, hands-on recruiting chops across technical and non-technical roles.
  • Strong analytical instincts—you know which metrics matter and how to use them to improve results.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with influence that resonates at every level.
  • A genuine passion for building diverse, high-performing teams that fuel business success.

Compensation

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of our total compensation package that also includes benefits, signing bonus, and equity. Pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including scope and qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to other Coast employees. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at Coast to fall healthily within the range based on these factors.

  • Salary range: $200,000 - $220,000 annually
  • Signing bonus
  • Equity grant: commensurate with level determined at the discretion of the company, with meaningful potential upside given the company’s early stage

Benefits overview

  • Medical, dental and vision insurance
  • Flexible paid time off (vacation, personal well being, paid holidays)
  • Tools to help manage your financial wellness, including webinars, access to an equity tax advisory service, and company-sponsored 401(k)
  • Paid parental leave
  • $400 accessories allowance (a keyboard, mouse, headphones, etc.)
  • Education stipend
  • Free lunch every Friday

If you're practical and business-minded, smart and creative, and excited about the rewards and volatility of an early-stage venture-backed startup, we'd love to hear from you.
