THE POSITION
Newlab is seeking a Director/VP, Investments, Investor Relations and Operations, working with the Head of Investments. This individual will be responsible for the day-to-day execution of investments, including LP coordination and follow-up, deal execution and documentation, portfolio reporting, and the systems architecture that keeps a rules-based fund disciplined and transparent. This position will be the connective tissue between fundraising and our high-velocity investment pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Operations
  • Own the integrity of our three-gate process, ensure 100% adherence to the rules-based investment model for all fund investments as they move through the funnel
  • Prepare deal memos synthesizing company overview, market landscape, competitive positioning, differentiation, valuation, and key performance metrics
  • Manage end-to-end deal execution process once a company is qualified — drafting, analyzing, and coordination of term sheets, legal document review, investment committee materials, closing mechanics, and wire coordination
  • Maintain investment tracking infrastructure including pipeline status, gate progression, and portfolio company records
  • Coordinate with outside counsel on investment documentation and ensure the lead investor terms align with fund requirements (SAFEs, convertible notes, equity rounds, side letters)
  • Track and manage co-investment allocation and SPV formation for eligible LPs
Reporting & Compliance
  • Build and maintain quarterly portfolio reports including valuations, follow-on activity, and key company updates
  • Coordinate with fund administrators on NAV calculations, capital account statements, and K-1 preparation
  • Ensure compliance with fund governance requirements including Investment Committee documentation and LPAC disclosures
  • Maintain the definitive, auditable records of gate criteria verification for every investment decision
Newlab Platform & Operating Company Interaction
  • Serve as the primary operational liaison between Newlab Investments and Newlab’s global operating company
  • Own the relationship with location and sector leads (Brooklyn, Detroit, New Orleans, Montevideo, Riyadh) to collect underwriting signal, 360 Referral inputs, and portfolio updates for gate-level decisions
  • Partner with the CPO, SVP Operations, and General Counsel to industrialize Newlab Investments' operational core—integrating platform pipeline data, member tracking, and investment logic with institutional-grade finance, fund admin, and compliance systems
LP Coordination & Fundraising Support
  • Drive all aspects of the firm’s fundraising efforts in partnership with the Head of Investments, supporting strategy execution and investor engagement
  • Own and manage the LP pipeline CRM, including tracking outreach, meeting activity, follow-ups, and commitment status
  • Support prospective and existing investor meetings, including preparation of materials and talking points, active participation and note-taking, and timely follow-ups to advance relationships and next steps
  • Coordinate LP onboarding processes, including subscription documentation, KYC/AML compliance, and capital call logistics
  • Develop and maintain LP-facing materials, including pitch decks, data room content, quarterly reports, and annual meeting materials
  • Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for LPs, managing operational inquiries, document requests, and meeting coordination

THE CANDIDATE
Essential Qualifications
  • 5–8 years of experience in venture investor relations, venture fund operations/administration, investment banking or adjacent roles
  • Experience in fund operations and early-stage deal mechanics, including LP onboarding, capital calls, reporting cycles, and legal documentation (e.g., SAFEs, convertible notes, side letters, pro-rata rights)
  • Demonstrated passion for deep tech / hard tech, with relevant experience, academic exposure, or sustained interest in technically complex sectors
  • Excellent communication, high EQ, and executive presence; ability to synthesize complex information into investor-ready materials and manage LP inquiries and requests
  • Systems-oriented, organized, detail-driven; experience with CRMs and reporting workflows, able to manage multiple workstreams (fundraising, deals, reporting) with precision
  • Proactive, collaborative, and accountable; experience supporting the full investment lifecycle (term sheets through closing) and familiarity with platforms like Carta or Juniper Square preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required

LOCATION & REMUNERATION
  • Brooklyn, NY (in-person)
  • A competitive compensation package, commensurate with experience, will be provided
  • Base salary expected in the range of $150,000 to $225,000
