DNY Inside Machinist

Description: 

Derecktor is looking for a full-time Inside Machinist. Candidates must have experience operating both CNC and manual cutting machines and precision measuring tools used to produce precision parts. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

These shall include, but not necessarily be limited to the following: 

• Apply knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, layout, and machining 

• Interpret mechanical drawings/blueprints 

• Set up machines, adjust settings, perform calibration, maintenance and repairs. 

• Fabricate, modify and remanufacture parts required to maintain, repair and create machine tools and industrial machines  

• Ability to run lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and surface grinder. 

• Performs machine maintenance and is responsible for the immediate reporting of safety issues to Supervisor 

• Ability to accurately measure with inside/outside micrometers, and report on results 

• Ability to machine various metals and composites to exacting standards, including threading when needed 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

• Keeps work area clean and organized to insure safety and environmental compliance. 

• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings 

• Able to perform duties with minimal supervision 

• High attention to detail 

• Must pass as drug test and background check 

• Experience working in a shipyard/ship repair environment 

• Minimum of five years of experience as Inside Machinist
