the job:

amika is looking for a dynamic + creative editorial manager to support the next evolution of our brand storytelling across our social + pro channels. this role is ideal for someone who’s an exceptional writer, fluent in social-first storytelling + deeply interested in the professional hairstyling community.  
 
reporting into the Director of Editorial + Brand Storytelling, the editorial manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional departments to write copy + elevate storytelling across various social platforms + pro channels, including TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, video scripts, digital, email, retail/vm, among other touchpoints. you’ll need to be extremely creative, collaborative + open to feedback. exceptional beauty writing, grammar + proofreading skills are a must. 

 

salary: $100,000 - $110,000 + bonus 

location: hybrid (must be based in NYC, work onsite 2-3 days a week + have the right to work in the US)



what you'll do:

social storytelling + copy  

  • serve as the lead social copywriter + editor across various social platforms, including post copy, on-asset text, supers, scripts, storyboarding + closed captioning 
  • pitch, develop, execute + refine new content formats + franchises based on best practices, insights + business goals  
  • partner closely with social marketing, content creation, video + art teams to develop thumb-stopping hooks + engaging social-first content that deepens brand loyalty, edu-tains audiences + drives conversion 
  • appear on camera as a brand expert when needed to support storytelling + community engagement  

pro storytelling + copy  

  • develop storytelling frameworks + write copy across all pro channels, including social, email, retail/vm, events + scripts, among other touchpoints 
  • partner closely with Pro Marketing + Education teams to enhance processes + develop content ideas that deepen pro loyalty, engagement + community  
  • help establish, evolve + uphold amika’s pro-to-pro brand voice 
  • stay deeply connected to the professional hairstylist community to ensure messaging feels relevant, authentic + engaging 

editorial content + brand storytelling 

  • support the Editorial team with brainstorms + special projects, including product names, campaign ideas + storytelling concepts 
  • stay deeply tapped into beauty, culture, social + industry trends to keep our messaging fresh, relevant + leading the conversation 
  • represent creative in cross-functional meetings when needed, ensuring alignment + momentum 
  • work closely with the Editorial Director to ensure all copy is reviewed, approved + on-brand  

maintain operational excellence 

  • proofread meticulously to ensure all copy is clean, clear + error-free across channels 
  • leverage AI tools to optimize copy + enhance efficiency  
  • identify opportunities to improve workflows + strengthen processes 
  • partner with Creative Operations to manage bandwith + ensure all deadlines are met 
  • liaise with Regulatory + Brand Marketing to ensure all copy meets requirements 


must haves:

  • 4-6+ years of beauty writing + social experience for a brand or magazine/digital publication 
  • experience working with hairstylists + episodic video creation is a plus 
  • exceptional time management, communication + adaptability skills 
  • ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment 
  • self-motivated + highly organized with an attention to detail 
  • extremely collaborative, proactive + a creative problem-solver 
  • experience in AI programs like ChatGPT, Jasper, and/or Writer.ai 
  • experience in creative content programs like Figma or Adobe
