The Education Program Manager (Clinical Education & Informatics) is responsible for leading the design, development, and deployment of comprehensive clinical education programs while supporting informatics-driven workflow optimization across oncology services at Deaconess Health System. This role serves as a critical bridge between clinical operations, Epic informatics teams, and education functions to ensure oncology workflows are accurately reflected in system design, training content, and end-user adoption strategies.
This position supports medical oncology, surgical oncology, infusion services (Epic Beacon), radiation oncology, and complex care/same-day clinic operations. The role ensures providers, nursing, pharmacy, and operational staff are fully trained, workflow-ready, and supported through go-live and post-go-live stabilization activities.
Curriculum Development & Training Design
- Design and develop comprehensive, role-based training programs for oncology and infusion services.
- Create curriculum, course materials, simulations, job aids, and competency validation tools aligned with clinical workflows and Epic Beacon functionality.
- Translate clinical workflows, system design, and operational processes into structured educational content.
- Validate training materials against Epic build, organizational policies, and clinical workflows to ensure accuracy and readiness.
- Develop scenario-based and simulation training to reflect real-world oncology workflows.
- Partner with clinical leaders, operational stakeholders, and Epic analysts to document, analyze, and optimize oncology workflows.
- Serve as a liaison between end users and IT/Epic teams to ensure workflow alignment within system design and training.
- Participate in workflow design sessions, validation exercises, and user acceptance testing activities.
- Identify gaps between current and future-state workflows and recommend process and system improvements.
- Support standardization of workflows across clinical, research, pharmacy, and revenue cycle functions where applicable.

- Incorporate multiple learning modalities including:
- Epic system training (Beacon workflows)
- Clinical equipment training integration
- Policy and procedure education
- Simulation-based learning and case scenarios
- Epic system training (Beacon workflows)
- Ensure training programs support both initial go-live and ongoing operational readiness.
- Partner with oncology leadership, nursing, pharmacy, research teams, revenue cycle, and Epic/IS teams to align workflows, system build, and education strategy.
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops and working sessions to ensure shared understanding of workflows and system usage.
- Support change management efforts by reinforcing adoption of standardized workflows and clinical best practices.
- Act as a key contributor in aligning education strategy with organizational informatics goals.
- Manage course assignments, enrollment, tracking, and completion reporting within the LMS.
- Monitor training compliance, competency validation, and organizational readiness metrics.
- Develop dashboards and reports to support leadership visibility into training progress and readiness status.
- Support go-live readiness planning, including training completion tracking and workflow validation.
- Provide at-the-elbow support during activation and go-live events.
- Assist in issue identification, triage, and coordination with clinical and IT support teams.
- Continue post-go-live engagement through stabilization (anticipated through several months post-activation), addressing workflow refinement, training gaps, and adoption challenges.
RequirementsQualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Clinical Informatics, Education, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in clinical education, instructional design, or healthcare training program development.
- Experience in clinical informatics, workflow optimization, or EHR implementation environments.
- Strong understanding of oncology workflows, with infusion/Beacon experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with Epic EHR or similar healthcare information systems.
- Ability to translate complex clinical workflows into training content and system requirements.
- Experience supporting healthcare implementations, go-lives, or large-scale clinical system deployments.
- Epic Beacon experience or certification strongly preferred.
- Experience in oncology service lines (medical, surgical, radiation, infusion).
- Prior experience in large health system implementations or enterprise-scale education programs.
- Strong background in simulation-based learning or competency-based education models.
- Experience working in academic medical centers or integrated delivery networks.
