Electrical Engineer

Markon is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the Naval Nuclear Laboratory’s Facility Design organization at the Knolls Site. This position will work within a multidisciplinary project team supporting construction projects involving buildings and utility infrastructure. The Electrical Engineer will help define project scope, develop technical and construction documentation, support engineering activities throughout construction, and provide oversight of architectural and engineering firms supporting facility projects.

NOTE: This position requires regular onsite work at the Knolls Site and may be performed remotely up to 20% of the time. Work within an industrial area is required.

• Work within a multidisciplinary project team to support construction projects at the Knolls Site.
• Collaborate with project sponsors to develop and define project scope.
• Develop technical specifications and other documentation supporting facility construction projects.
• Develop and review project cost estimates.
• Perform engineering reviews of project drawings and construction documentation.
• Provide electrical engineering support throughout the construction phase of building and utility projects.
• Oversee architectural and engineering firms responsible for developing concept designs, construction documents, and cost estimates.
• Review engineering deliverables in support of successful facility project execution.
• Coordinate and interact with facility personnel, project stakeholders, architectural and engineering firms, and construction contractors.
• Support construction administration activities, including submittal reviews, Requests for Information (RFIs), and construction inspections.

Required:

• Ability to obtain a DOE L clearance.
• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience performing electrical engineering tasks, including:
  • Development of contract documents.
  • Engineering calculations.
  • Cost estimating.
• Working knowledge of applicable building codes and standards.
• Experience with construction administration, including activities such as:
  • Submittal reviews.
  • Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Construction inspections.

Desired:

• An Active DOE L Clearance.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification and/or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
• Engineering consulting experience.
• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
