As the Email Manager, you will lead the operational and strategic management of our email infrastructure and mail operations function. You will oversee a team of email operations specialists, ensure platform reliability and deliverability, manage escalations across internal and customer-facing environments, and help drive continuous improvement across our mail platform. Reporting directly to the Director of Mail Infrastructure, you will play a key role in maintaining the health, performance, and scalability of a high-volume email ecosystem. What you’ll do
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of email operations and deliverability specialists, managing priorities, performance, and ongoing team growth
  • Oversee the administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of email infrastructure, MTAs, authentication protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), DNS configurations, filtering systems, and overall platform reliability
  • Monitor platform health, deliverability metrics, sender reputation, and inbox placement, proactively troubleshooting complex mail delivery and infrastructure issues
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customer and internal mail-related escalations, coordinating cross-functionally with Support, Engineering, Security, and Account Management teams to drive timely resolution and root cause analysis
  • Lead incident response efforts related to platform outages or degraded delivery events while maintaining clear escalation processes, SLAs, and communication standards
  • Ensure compliance with applicable email-related regulations and best practices, including CAN-SPAM, CASL, GDPR, anti-spam protections, and acceptable email usage policies
  • Provide operational reporting and strategic recommendations to the Director of Mail Infrastructure while identifying opportunities to improve tooling, automation, scalability, and operational efficiency
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging threats, and evolving best practices related to email infrastructure, security, and deliverability
  • Support other tasks or projects as assigned to meet team and business needs
About you
  • 4+ years of experience in email operations, deliverability, or mail infrastructure environments
  • 1–2+ years of team leadership or people management experience
  • Strong knowledge of email protocols including SMTP, IMAP, POP3, and MIME
  • Hands-on experience with SPF, DKIM, and DMARC implementation and troubleshooting
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving complex mail delivery issues within enterprise or SaaS environments
  • Familiarity with MTAs such as Postfix, Sendmail, or Exim
  • Experience managing escalations and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong operational mindset with the ability to balance technical troubleshooting and team leadership responsibilities
  • Experience with DNS management related to email routing and authentication is considered a plus
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability platforms such as Grafana or Datadog is beneficial
  • Exposure to phishing prevention, spoofing protection, and email security best practices is preferred
  • Experience working in high-volume or transactional email environments is highly valued
