This is a CTO position at a stealth healthcare start-up launching out of Redesign, on a mission to improve people’s overall health and happiness by being the sleep expert that brings an integrative and holistic approach to sleep wellness.

About the role

We are looking for a visionary product & engineering leader to join our founding team as a CTO. In this role, you will lead our technology, data, and product strategy and execution. The mission: bring to life a seamless, easy, and highly effective digital experience consumers will love, value & recommend because it works to help them sleep - and delightfully well. 

The CTO must have the ability and strong desire to build innovative, scalable, and effective digital health solutions that will bring the benefits of sleep science to consumers everywhere. This leader will deliver a product experience to life that reinvents and represents more than an incremental improvement of what exists today. He/she should have demonstrated the ability to conceive and build product, data, and technology differentiation that can become proprietary assets and a competitive advantage.

A customer-centric, mobile-first, insight, and data-driven philosophy are essential. The sophistication to translate the advice and guidance of top tier medical advisors into product is critical. As a founding team member, this modern technology leader is highly technically proficient and hands-on, but can also operate at a strategic level and contribute to business decisions. We need an energetic people leader with influencing skills who is operationally savvy. You will play a key role in bringing together our mobile, web, and physical (retail) experiences into an integrated, omnichannel, sleep wellness experience. This product & technology leader reports to the CEO and is a key member of the leadership team. 

Responsibilities:

• Partner with the CEO & leadership team to shape the company’s overall vision and business strategy. This individual is the key leader guiding product, data, and technology strategy & execution 
• Define the overall technology, data, and product strategy. 
• Build a personalized digital therapy strategy, a strong content and eCommerce experience, and engaging, useful app experience (Android and iOs).
• Design and build a platform that uniquely intertwines the online and offline experience.
• Define technical requirements and systems architecture with clarity on feasibility, time, cost, and impact.
• Implement best practice coding methodologies and tools.
• Lead and guide both internal & distributed software development teams.
• Develop an architecture and roadmap that supports rapid product iteration and enables data science through product analytics.
• Understands and implements best practices for data protection and privacy.

Qualifications:

• 12+ years of experience building and scaling innovative consumer technology products at leading consumer technology companies and high growth consumer startups.
• 6+ years leading software engineering teams.
• Experience managing software development across distributed teams.
• Strong experience in transactional eCommerce, community and content, and mobile products important. 
• Experience evaluating complex integrations and working through build vs buy decisions.
• Experience hiring, inspiring and managing a high performing team that drives results. 
• Hands-on approach. Problem solver. 
• Understands and has experience with cloud-based infrastructure and operations.
• Outstanding and direct communication skills. 
• Collaborative, no BS leader. High integrity.
• Previous healthcare technology experience helpful (fitness, weight loss, nutrition, therapy, health tracking)
• B.Sc in Computer Science or equivalent required. Masters or PhD a plus.
