Director of Advanced Engineering (Turbonomic, Inc., New York, New York): Assist the company in the further development of its virtualization management software products. Responsible for developing and designing virtualization management software to manage complex virtualized infrastructure for industry-leading suite of products, as well as managing and leading the engineering effort within the team. As Director of Advanced Engineering, will work with a team of Software Engineers and Software Architects, as well as other Directors, Managers, and Team Leads in order to resolve critical technical issues.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, test, modify and enhance prototype solutions for expansion of product offerings and applications.
  • Design and create abstractions representing virtual infrastructure and manage to ensure efficiency and technical performance of software applications.
  • Oversee the Advanced Engineering Development Team comprised of Principal Software Engineers, Senior Software Engineers, and a Software Architect and analyze workflow, establish priorities, develop standards and set deadlines.
  • Manage and lead the engineering effort of developing management software in cloud native technology.
  • Design and implement components using EMF and JAVA for use in enterprise environment and across multiple projects employing VMware vCenter/ESX, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix XenServers, Cisco UCS, SNMP, Openstack Neutron, Opendaylight and openflow concepts.
  • Utilize virtualization technologies, cloud computing, fabric and storage technologies and application management.
  • Meet with other Directors to collaborate internally, negotiate the right tradeoffs, solicit cooperation and resolve problems, and advance new technical products.

Note: This is a technical lead position responsible for providing leadership and guidance to its Team on projects including work and resource allocation. Does not have hiring and firing over Team members.

 

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree (or a foreign equivalent degree) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering or a closely related technical field and 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer or Developer. May be gained pre- or post-Master’s degree.

 

Must also have: (I) Strong knowledge of Java, Golang, and Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF). (II) Strong knowledge of system design. (III) Industry experience working with Virtualization, Container, Cloud, and Software Defined Network. (IV) Familiarity and experience with different Algorithms and Data structures and understanding of complexity of various algorithms in software. (V) Experience mentoring and leading teams of software engineers on code quality, reviewing design and code. (VI) Must have strong communication and team building skills. (VII) Demonstrated track record of excellent communication skills engaging with customers.

Location

We have an office right across from Grand Central Station and another larger office right outside the city in White Plains NY.
