Who You Are
The Onboarding Automation team is responsible for helping high growth startups seamlessly hire and onboard employees at scale. This includes providing companies with all the necessary tools and integrations at each step to operate with greater efficiency and confidence by automating and monitoring different employee management workflows. With rapid increase in remote work and distributed nature of companies, our products such as document e-signature, remote onboarding, and Org Charts have become the bread and butter of our customers and some of the primary reasons why customers love Justworks.
As an Engineering Manager at Justworks, you will oversee a team of Software Engineers and work closely with Designers and Product Managers. You are responsible for coordinating projects, prioritization, and engineers to create and maintain features for our customers. This role requires a strong technical background and a passion for mentoring and growing teams.
Not only do you have the broad extensive knowledge of core web development technologies in distributed environments, but you also have a high level of empathy and interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally in an organization. You can grasp and communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Being able to see the bigger picture, you bring people together to prioritize, craft, and achieve plans.
Your Success ProfileWhat You Will Work On
- Work with the Engineers, Designers, and Product Managers to prioritize, schedule and execute projects so we can quickly develop and ship new features
- Work with the People Experience cluster to build a scalable process to delivery iteratively with consistent velocity
- Communicate and coordinate with other teams in and out of engineering to understand the requirements and opportunities for improvement
- Provide guidance, both technical and non-technical, to direct reports
- Help recruit, source, interview and hire for the entire engineering team
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience managing a team of frontend and backend engineers
- Solid understanding of mobile development technologies and API driven approaches
- Demonstrable experience in prioritizing, crafting, and achieving plans
- Strong communication skills with the ability to grasp and explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical people
- Strong leadership skills necessary to manage and develop a team
- Solid experience in Agile/Lean practices and working closely with product management
- High levels of empathy and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Kafka, GraphQL, & Distributed Systems is a plus
- Experience as a Scrum Master and/or recent CSM, PMI-ACP, CSP-SM is a plus
