What you'll do:

  • Lead the Playback Engineering team’s day-to-day operations while providing guidance to help increase the efficiency, stability, deliverability, and maintainability of everything the team produces
  • Work closely with video product and video platform leadership to define, execute and deploy playback features and improvements
  • Implement and improve creator tooling and playback features making the Vimeo player “smarter” and improving the user experience
  • Continue to improve playback quality in all types of playback circumstances across the globe
  • Develop and implement processes for building better software and better teams, and become an enthusiast for architectural and organizational best practices
  • Partner with Recruiting and HR to attract and retain a diverse team through hiring, mentoring, feedback, and career development

Skills and knowledge you should possess:

  • Proven experience leading engineering teams at scale
  • Experience working in a professional dynamic web environment working with JavaScript (framework agnostic), HTML5, CSS and SASS mastery
  • Development experience within a dynamic web environment (Python, PHP, Node.JS, etc.)
  • Ability to keep up with the evolution of JavaScript (Media Source Extensions, Media Capabilities, WebVR/XR, WebGL)
  • Extensive experience designing and implementing systems with clarity, reusability, testability, and scalability in mind
  • A proven track record of mentoring and growing people
