The Services Team: 

The Services Team is a multi-disciplinary Engineering team that supports the components that form the core of JW’s SaaS platform: web player, backend services, iOS and Android SDKs, and our Broadcast Live live-streaming software. As the Front End Engineer, you will work with the various teams that manage with our clients (Technical Support, Account Management, Solutions Engineering) to troubleshoot our Web Player and help solve customer issues. The Front End Engineer  will also collaborate with other Service Engineers to work on ad hoc projects to deliver custom components for current and prospective clients. Additionally, the engineer will contribute to our sales, marketing, and retention efforts by creating new demos, proof of concept applications, and custom  integrations and extensions of the player, as well as working with our Technical Writing and Product Marketing teams to contribute to the creation of documentation and sales materials.

The Opportunity: 

We're looking for a junior JavaScript programmer to lead a world-class team of 2nd level engineers dedicated to solving customer issues. This position is perfect for those who are just starting out in JavaScript programming. 2nd level engineers who excel may have the opportunity to join the JW Player engineering team.

As a Front End Services Engineer, you will:

• Work with other engineers on special project for our highest value clients
• Deliver custom integrations and plugins for the JW Video Player 
• Interact with our biggest customers to improve the performance, stability and user experience of the JW Video Player
• Work with the Sales and Marketing teams to aid in the selling and implementation of the player by providing POC’s and other reference documentation
• Collaborate with the Player Engineering and Product Management teams to contribute to product development

Requirements for the role: 

• 1-3 years experience building applications in JS, Node, and other JS frameworks
• Expert troubleshooting skills, including a high level of proficiency in using debugging tools on Chrome and Safari, building local test environments for stepping through unminified code, and use of other troubleshooting tools such as proxy server applications
• Experience using software development tools (Git, Jenkins, JIRA)

Bonus Points:

• Code testing/testing automation tools and workflows (Jenkins, creating unit tests, test plans, etc. )
• Experience working with adaptive bitrate streaming protocols (HLS, DASH) or other online streaming media tools
• Strong portfolio or Github profile
• Experience working with video advertising and media analytics applications
• Knowledge of other frameworks (e.g., React, React Native, Angular, etc.)
