This venture seeks to dramatically improve quality of life for patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) like Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. We are building a digital platform that not only supports patients but also generates real world data to help IBD stakeholders make meaningful treatment advances.

We are looking for an exceptional technology leader who will work with the executive leadership team to best align business and technology strategy to drive the success of this disruptive startup.

As our Head of Engineering, you will:

DRIVE TECHNICAL STRATEGY

• Set the technical vision and build the technical product roadmap from launch to scale; including defining long-term goals and strategies

• Continue consistent development of the technical roadmap to remain ahead of the market

• Provide expert technical guidance to all functional areas, including strategy, operations, sales and product

• Work with Product and Design to ensure a unified strategy

DRIVE GROWTH

• Drive continuous product improvement

• Identify opportunities and challenges in the marketplace, with constant evaluation of technological advancements and innovation to mitigate impediments and drive success

• Evaluate and identify appropriate technology platforms to drive growth, profitability and company value

• Lead ecosystem partnerships and relationships as senior technical expert to drive growth

DRIVE EXCELLENCE

• Effectively align resources to achieve key business priorities, including appropriate scope, high quality and timely product releases

• Proactively mitigate business, operational and governance risks

• Ensure all internal processes and external services comply with security and privacy regulations

• Develop an enterprise-wide information security plan to ensure security of all company assets and data

• Establish enterprise-wide disaster recovery and continuity plan

• Build an efficient and agile end-to-end application infrastructure, with best practices in software delivery

• Define and implement a consistent and repeatable process for quality assurance across all areas of organization and product build

DRIVE TALENT & TEAMS

• Attract and retain a team of world-class engineers

• Cultivate a high performing, one-team engineering culture emphasizing innovation, growth, and development

• Evangelize technical vision and strategy internally and externally

As Head of Engineering, you will need:

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least half of that time at a high growth tech company using agile methods

• Experience leading and scaling a high growth start-up

• An entrepreneurial spirit that can operate independently with little direction

• Proven track record of demonstrating ability to scale and build large engineering teams from scratch

• Proven track record of bringing highly-rated mobile and web applications to market in a startup environment

• Experience managing engineering teams of 3 years or more, preferably at a high growth tech company

• Experience with software best practices in:

Continuous integration/continuous deployment

Middleware/ ESB/ software design patterns

Microservices architecture and design patterns

Relevant technology experience:

• 3+ years working with big data and analytics

• Working knowledge of :

• Java (Spring) and J2EE (JBoss or Tomcat)

• Cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)

• JavaScript web app framewords (Angular, React, Vue.js)

• TDD, cucumber, selenium

• SQL, mongo db, elastic search
