The Core Video Team is responsible for building all playback-related functionality in Sky's OTT products. We work closely with the application teams in Sky Go, NOW TV, Sky Sports and others to ensure that common functionality is built in a reliable, scalable and efficient way.
We build a video SDK which our colleagues across Sky use to achieve effortless video playback on Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Samsung TV, LG TV, PlayStation, Xbox, Roku, Chromecast and other devices.
We are now looking for talented engineers to join us in finding new innovative ways to build features and improve upon our video players.
Responsibilities:

  • Be an active player in all agile ceremonies
  • Create and maintain test documentations
  • Own defect management and perform knowledgeable analysis of testing results
  • Effectively utilize applicable testing tools and be proactive in improving QA tech stack
  • Be a liaison between product owners, engineering, and quality assurance teams
  • Be a subject matter expert and contribute to knowledge sharing throughout the team
  • Drive Improvements
  • Represent QA team in project/progress/status meetings


Qualifications

  • Industry experience and a successful track record in video players testing of web, mobile and Cross TV applications
  • Awareness of streaming technology, AV codecs, DRM, video ads insertion
  • Strong understanding of testing methodologies, test practice and terminology at all SDLC and STLC phases
  • Ability to demonstrate strong communication skills and a focused, determined,
    pro-active attitude
  • Experience using Test management tools such as Zephyr or TestRail and project management and defect logging tools such as JIRA or GitHub
  • Strong knowledge of proxy and debugging tools such as Charles, Fiddler or similar
  • Excellent trouble-shooting skills with the ability to analyze logs and detect root cause of the issue


Desired Characteristics

  • Basic understanding of video streaming technologies
  • Knowledge of major video protocols
  • Experience with Agile methodology
  • Advanced debugging and logs capturing on all major platforms and devices
  • Knowledge of JSON, XML, VAST
  • Experience with automation testing tools
  • CI/CD awareness and tools such as Jenkins, Concourse
  • Understanding of version control system, Git commands usage
  • Basic experience with common IDEs and scripting/programming languages
