About The Opportunity
Grubhub is a place where authentically fun culture meets innovation and teamwork. We believe in empowering people and opening doors for new opportunities. If you're looking for a place that values strong relationships, embraces diverse ideas-all while having fun together-Grubhub is the place for you!
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Security Engineering team. The Security Engineering team owns system, network, and perimeter protection for Grubhub. In this leadership role, you'll partner with Security Operations, Site Reliability Engineering, and Software Engineering teams to ensure all Grubhub systems are secure from current and emerging threats. As an Engineering Manager, you will be managing a team of Security Engineers, shaping their career paths, designing our system architecture, and influencing our product vision.
The Grubhub technology environment is designed to enable scale, high availability, and adaptability to change. It utilizes modern technologies and a container-based microservice architecture deployed across multiple hot/hot AWS regions to enable us to handle billions of requests and over a million orders per day. On a daily basis, the team of hundreds of engineers working on the product and platform make dozens of changes to this environment. It is in this fast-paced and challenging environment that this Security Engineering Manager role will need to operate.
The Impact You Will Make
  • Lead a team of 5-10 Security Engineers
  • Guide your team through sprint ceremonies, including: daily-standups, weekly retrospectives, and individual 1x1 sessions.
  • Set the technical-direction for the Security Engineering team at Grubhub. You'll be an Engineering Leader, influencing the direction of security solutions for the company.
  • Provide direction on the planning and execution of security-focused projects.
  • Drive the continuous refinement of our perimeter security, ensuring we identify threats and neutralize them expeditiously.
  • Assist with the scanning, tracking, and remediation of security vulnerabilities.
  • Identify manual security-related processes which could be improved or replaced with automated solutions.
  • Work with your team to monitor and ensure the security of the platform, which includes a 24/7 hour on-call rotation.
  • Participate in application architecture reviews, ensuring designs are secure from day one.

What You Bring to the Table
  • Previous experience leading teams as an Engineering Manager.
  • Experience planning and managing multifaceted security projects.
  • I n-depth experience with security tools such as File Integrity Monitoring (FIM), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and other similar scanning-tools.
  • Ability to write code to automate security functions. You should be able to write testable, object-oriented code in a high-level language such as Python or Java.
  • Experience with perimeter protection for highly-available systems. You'll need to design security solutions without impacting system availability.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD best practices and how security can be integrated without impacting throughput.
  • Understanding of PCI, SOX, and CCPA requirements is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field is preferred.
