Overview:

We are looking for an ambitious Software Development Lead to join our team in creating the next generation of IoT water savings solutions. You will take ownership in building new products from the ground up. The role combines hands-on development with team leadership growing our talented software group. The ideal candidate is passionate about learning new technologies and solving problems with a wide variety of tools to create a real impact. We (currently) use: Elixir, PostgreSQL, TimescaleDb, C++, Grafana, GraphQL, Flutter, AWS, and IoT technologies (MQTT, etc.). Responsibilities Scale, empower and lead our software team, driving product vision, and technical direction Architect, build, and own our large cloud-based backend systems defining databases, APIs, and protocols Key decision maker for technology framework, language, and architecture choices Analyze, document, and improve scalability, reliability, security, and performance Coach junior developers and provide mentorship to engineering members

Qualifications:

6+ years of experience in building scalable software solutions with an emphasis on backend systems, architecture, and design Experience with web, mobile, data, and platform engineering in production Understanding of processing pipelines, filtering, and time-series data Breadth and depth of knowledge for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, process building, testing, and operations Proven track record of shipping software to production within an agile development environment Ability to deliver creative solutions to business-critical requirements Excellent interpersonal & communication skills B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Technical Qualifications:

Advanced knowledge of Databases (PostgreSQL), well-documented APIs (GraphQL, REST), and a variety of languages (Elixir, Java, Go, Python, C/C++) Experience in backend data analysis, pipelines, ML, and processing Experience with designing, building, and debugging APIs and distributed backend systems

Big Plus if you also have the following experiences:

Firmware development and IoT devices Electrical engineering and basic electronics device prototyping

Building an agile software team from scratch

This is a remote role with some onsite collaboration
