What are we building?
We're building a new Payments Platform for Northwestern Mutual(NM) - Enterprise Payments Network (EPN) using the latest technologies on AWS. NM is introducing more Embedded Financial products to provide more value to customers and help them meet their financial goals. EPN platform will have several of those components built along with payment solutions. We're a year into our journey and there's a lot of new capabilities we need you to help us build. Tech stack and dev tools we are using are Node.js, Typescript, Kafka, DynamoDB, Lambda, Kubernetes, Postman, Kevlar, Cucumber... And How about an opportunity to do the assessment based on our needs and choose the appropriate tech stack to build these new components? Whoever take up this position will have a chance to influence those decisions. Does Banking-as-a-Service, Banking-as-a-platform or Embedded Finance excites you? This position is for you...
The EPN program has several agile-scrum teams that operate together as a part of a program organized using the Scaled Agile Frameworks (SAFe). On your scrum team there will be engineers holding roles as scrum master, devops, QA, and leads. There will also be a business analyst/product owner. We have a testing group outside the teams as well that help us coordinate and test the larger platform and integrating teams. There are also designers, architects, and program managers working outside the team to help build the runway of work coming to your team.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides technical leadership to team.
  • Establishes, aggregates, and shares team standards and best practices across department.
  • Mentors, guides and coaches engineers within their division for technical and leadership growth
  • Recruits , hires and onboards talent within respective department, ensuring the right mix of talent within team.
  • Ensures production stability, monitoring, and root cause analysis for their products.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 4-5 years of professional experience required
  • 3-5+ years of experience working with modern engineering tools, languages and practices.
  • 1-2 years technical leadership with or without direct reports.
  • Proven track record of successfully designing and delivering significant and impactful technology solutions.
  • Experience developing and leading solution delivery using agile methods.
  • Capable of communicating between product, engineering, and the business.
  • Ability to successfully communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences in varying forms and levels of detail.
  • Leads the team to collaboration.
