Job Description
As part of the global Operations & Technology organization, the Data & Analytics team (D&A) is focused on data and analytics strategies for the future. We support NBCU's vast portfolio of brands - from broadcast, cable, news, and sports networks to film studios, world-renowned theme parks, and a diverse suite of digital properties. The Data & Analytics (D&A) team at NBCUniversal is looking for a passionate problem solver who will be an outstanding addition to our team. Working with our Research Analytics team - the Sr. Software Engineer will be working with internal stakeholders, data engineers, and product teams to design and build the next generation of data applications. Qualifications
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, or a combination of relevant education, experience and training in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or quantitative data fields of study
  • 8+ years of relevant software development experience
  • 4+ years of cloud application architecture and engineering (AWS a plus), with hands-on experience in cloud automation
  • Proficient in designing and developing solutions using the software development cycle
  • Abide by a philosophy of security, resiliency, and privacy by design
  • Experience delivering software using an agile development process and leading software development projects by providing timely status updates
  • The ability to jump into a project and contribute immediately to both architecture and implementation
  • Hands-on experience with Front-End frameworks and understanding of CSS, JavaScript
  • Strong understanding of modern programming languages (Java, Python, Go, NodeJS)
  • Knowledge of containers and tools like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and architecture patterns
  • Ability to recommend software upgrades for existing applications
  • Improve code quality by identifying issues, testing, and maintaining the code
  • Enhance existing applications by identifying opportunities for improvement and making recommendations
  • Curate operational documentation alongside technical authors
  • Ability to develop and work with APIs and Know how to integrate API calls into applications
  • Experience with modern build strategies, continuous integration, unit testing, static analysis, and automated integration tests. Continuous delivery experience preferred
  • Able to define, document, and communicate front-end, middleware, and back-end architectures
  • Passion for keeping up to date with emerging platforms & the latest technology trends
  • Ability to work and participate in a team with an open and collaborative style of communications


Desired Characteristics:

  • Analytical - You have experience in delivering self-service analytics solutions that promote data discovery. Experience with Snowflake, Amazon Web Services, or related cloud platforms. Understanding of big data technology stacks (Hive / Spark etc)
  • Media-focused - Strong working knowledge of media including broadcast TV, digital, and mobile (specific experience with TV Distribution a plus)
  • Communicator - You have excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate ideas effectively across all levels of the organization, both technical and non-technical
  • Action-oriented - You're constantly figuring out new problems and are regularly showing results with a positive growth-mindset

Salary range: $110,000 - $155,000.
