Your Impact on our Mission:

As our Engineering Manager of the Mezzanine team, you will be focused on front end development and accessibility.  Mezzanine is the name of Zocdoc’s new design system as well as the engineering team that supports it. You will work closely with the UX team to build the design system’s accessible React component library that all other product teams will use in feature development.  You will work closely with engineers to identify and make platform improvements to speed up front end development.  Your leadership of our software team will result in us shipping quickly with the right amount of investment in infrastructure, bettering our product and improving the lives of millions of patients.  Your dedication to building a culture of transparency, inclusion, and support will help ensure that our engineering is always evolving and growing.  Your ability to combine technical capabilities, digging into details to unblock teams and steer through complex engineering tradeoffs, with business knowledge and context is crucial for the success of Zocdoc.

Your day to day is…

  • Leading, managing, and growing the Mezzanine engineering team at Zocdoc
  • Evangelizing the Mezzanine design system and promoting adoption across engineering teams
  • Leading the effort to make Zocdoc’s site accessible and establishing processes to plan, build and QA accessible product features 
  • Partnering with Engineering and UX to build and roll out Mezzanine as an accessible component library
  • Partnering with Product, UX and Analytics to research and prioritize road maps and set a product direction
  • Helping guide and support your team’s technology strategy
  • Working across the organization on Engineering Culture, helping to build career ladders, steer cross-team events, and help build an inclusive technology workforce
  • With a strong hand in architecture, you’ll make sure we are building out the platform’s capabilities with attention to scale and speed 
  • Mentoring and coaching a team of engineers to deliver outstanding new products in React.js
  • Setting a technical strategy for your products, with a focus on scalable and easy to develop systems
  • Interview and recruit candidates to help your team grow!

You’ll be successful in this role if you have…

  • 5+ years of experience building and shipping software
  • 2+ years of experience leading, growing, and inspiring engineering teams
  • A history of building polished and well-tested consumer products
  • Experience architecting and developing scalable web applications
  • Solid communication skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders and build consensus with engineers at all levels
  • The mentality of an entrepreneur/owner and a strong bias to action
  • Humility. You believe in treating all people with dignity and respect, regardless of title or tenure, and you approach tough conversations with empathy

Zocdoc is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Salary ranges are determined through alignment with market data. Base salary offered is determined by a number of factors including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and skills. Certain positions are also eligible for variable pay and/or equity; your recruiter will discuss the full compensation package details.

NYC Base Salary Range

$190,000$255,000 USD
