Who we are:

We’re a passionate engineering team, developing and supporting a product where the majority of our users open the app more than 20 times per month. We are faced with an interesting set of technical challenges, and we believe in giving our engineers the autonomy to go and solve them. Much of our team comes from non-traditional computing backgrounds; we know that by bringing together a diverse set of voices we’ll be able to build a better product, and a better company. We care less about what languages or frameworks you know, and care more that you are excited to work with highly impactful teams and be constantly learning. Our engineers work in cross-functional teams that are focused on impact, and movement between teams is encouraged. We work very closely with our brilliant product team to deliver a world class user experience, and ultimately to empower our users to live their fullest, healthiest lives.

Your role:

As an Engineering Manager at ClassPass, you’ll lead a cross-functional team with strengths across mobile, backend, and platform, working together to drive expansion into new growth areas. This role sits at the intersection of product, data, and engineering, where experimentation and real user impact shape what gets built.

You’ll guide your team through complex technical challenges while setting a clear, long-term technical direction, balancing speed with sustainable architecture. It’s a highly collaborative environment where iteration is key, and your ability to partner closely with product and empower your team will directly influence both the user experience and business growth.

If you enjoy building high-impact products, leading thoughtful technical decisions, and working in a fast-moving, data-driven space, this is a great opportunity to grow both your team and your own leadership.

You’ll likely spend time working on:
  • Empowering your engineering team to deliver high levels of technical quality and business impact.
  • Recruiting a diverse team of engineers recognized as some of the best in the industry, from outreach to closing.
  • Managing a team of engineers and facilitating their career development through challenging responsibilities and constructive feedback.
  • Actively participating in strategic direction and product decisions for your team.
  • Contributing to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of ClassPass’ engineering management team.
About the right team member:

You are an experienced engineer who has successfully transitioned into a people leader, passionate about creating impactful and high-quality mobile applications. You possess extensive experience in at least one aspect of developing a world-class mobile application and can effectively manage a high-performing team throughout the entire process.

You’ll thrive in this role with experience in:

  • 3+ years of direct management experience with an engineering team of at least 6 members with skills across the stack
  • Experience in delivering high-quality frontends and/or mobile applications.
  • Established architecture and best practices for web or mobile applications and their backends.
  • Proven ability to establish and articulate a vision, set goals, and execute effectively.

Technologies you’ll be working with:

We value adaptability and problem-solving over specific tools, but here’s what you’ll likely work with:

  • Kotlin / Java
  • AWS (ECS, SQS, RDS)
  • Modern mobile development (Swift/SwiftUI, Android/Jetpack Compose)
Pay Transparency

It is Playlist’s intent to pay all Team Members competitive wages and salaries that are motivational, fair, and equitable.
