About Your Role:

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join our growing team and lead multiple engineering initiatives across cross-functional teams. In this role, you will be responsible for driving project execution, developing scalable processes, and ensuring engineering efforts align with business strategy.

As an Engineering Manager at K1X, you will work closely with product, engineering, QA, and leadership teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget—especially during high-impact periods like peak tax season. You’ll balance technical leadership with people leadership, helping teams perform at their best while fostering a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

If you’re a collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced, fully remote SaaS environment and enjoys building both teams and technology, we’d love to hear from you.

Your Responsibilities:

·       Lead and manage multiple engineering projects across teams, ensuring timely and successful delivery.

·       Partner with Product Management and other stakeholders to define project scope, priorities, timelines, and success metrics.

·       Establish and continuously improve engineering processes, workflows, and best practices within an agile/scrum environment.

·       Build, manage, and track project budgets, resource allocation, and delivery milestones.

·       Support and mentor engineers, fostering professional growth, technical excellence, and team engagement.

·       Participate directly in hands-on development efforts (coding, code reviews, debugging, architectural design) as needed to support delivery and unblock teams.

·       Identify risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks early, proactively driving solutions.

·       Ensure high standards for software quality, security, performance, and scalability.

·       Facilitate effective communication across distributed, fully remote teams.

·       Promote a growth mindset and continuous improvement culture across engineering.

Requirements

As the ideal candidate for this role, you bring:

·       Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

·       6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building and supporting production systems.

·       4+ years of experience leading engineering teams in an agile/scrum environment (2–3 years may be considered if supported by exceptional technical depth and delivery impact).

·       Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and delivering complex software projects in a SaaS environment.

·       Strong understanding of modern software development practices, agile methodologies, and SDLC processes.

·       Experience with budgeting, project planning, and execution in a SaaS environment.

·       Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.

·       Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially in a fully remote setting.

·       Ability to balance technical depth with people leadership and business needs.

·       Comfortable making tradeoffs under deadline pressure while maintaining quality and supporting team morale.

It’s Truly a Match If You Have:

·       Experience working in SaaS, fintech, tax, or financial services industries.

·       Background managing teams working with cloud-native architectures and modern web technologies.

·       Experience scaling engineering teams or processes in a growing company.

·       Exposure to AI, machine learning, or data-driven software products.

·       An entrepreneurial mindset and passion for building high-impact technology solutions.

·       A leadership style that emphasizes coaching, mentorship, and helping engineers grow through real partnership and hands-on support.
