As an Annotator at Yext, you’ll help train artificial neural networks to understand human language by supplying them with high-quality labeled data, essential for building the cutting-edge technology Yext delivers. You will be analyzing texts and word meanings, assigning them different types of classification tags, performing data entry, collaborating with other annotators, and creating complex datasets that power machine learning. You will also monitor AI-generated output for inconsistencies, hallucinations, or bias, contributing to the development of AI that is ethical and responsible.
What You'll Do- Use specialized labeling software to analyze different kinds of language data in English and Spanish
- Use Slack, Google Workspace, and Zoom to learn about new projects, collaborate with your team, and ask questions
- Complete assignments on time while carefully following the labeling guidelines
- Review the work of other annotators, correct their output if needed
- Provide feedback on data quality and flag any issues you encounter during annotation
- Bilingual in Spanish and English, with native or near-native proficiency in both
- Excellent reading comprehension, analytical skills, and a passion for language
- Good communicator, able to spot ambiguity and ask clear, concise questions
- Comfortable with long-term repetitive tasks that require focus and attention to detail
- Able to work on multiple projects at once while meeting quality standards and deadlines
- Authorized to work in the U.S. as an independent contractor
- Computer literate (especially macOS) and used to working virtually
- Previous experience with annotation is welcome, but not necessary
- Background in language studies and familiarity with key concepts in phonology, syntax, semantics, and predicate logic are a big plus
- Interest in AI (especially natural language processing) and ML is appreciated
- Daily access to a Mac (or Windows) PC and a high-speed cable internet connection is required
- Freelance contract with customizable work hours (minimum 20 hours per week, with potential to increase to 40 hours depending on project needs)
