At Cencora, we are united in our responsibility to create healthier futures. As a Summer 2027 Intern, you will have the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a professional business environment while gaining meaningful, hands-on experience within our Environmental team.
Throughout the internship, you will work on real business initiatives, collaborate with team members and leaders, develop professional skills, and contribute to projects that support Cencora's purpose of creating healthier futures.

End Date: August 13, 2027
Location: Our Distribution Center in Romeoville, IL
This internship is designed for students who are curious, motivated, and eager to learn while making a meaningful impact in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
This Environmental Intern will support our Corporate Environmental Manager in advancing compliance efforts across our operations. This role will focus on a specific environmental compliance project while assisting with key tasks such as hazardous waste management, regulatory reporting, and environmental audits. The intern will also contribute to training initiatives and continuous improvement efforts aimed at strengthening environmental compliance programs.
Environmental compliance is critical to protecting employees, communities, and the environment, as well as mitigating risks associated with regulatory violations. Proper hazardous waste management, accurate reporting, and ongoing training ensure that our operations remain safe, efficient, and aligned with all applicable regulations. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to support these essential efforts while gaining valuable experience in environmental compliance within a distribution center environment.
This role is ideal for candidates passionate about environmental management and eager to make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced operational setting.
Responsibilities

• Assisting with hazardous waste program management
• Preparing compliance reports
• Conducting site inspections
• Supporting audits to identify and address potential risks.
• Help develop and deliver training materials to enhance employee understanding of environmental responsibilities and foster a culture of continuous improvement in compliance practices.
• Support ongoing projects, reporting, analysis, or process improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business partners.
• Participate in team meetings, professional development opportunities, and internship program activities.
• Present project outcomes, recommendations, or key learnings at the conclusion of the internship.

Education and Experience

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Currently enrolled in a degree program related to Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, etc.
• Rising sophomore, junior, or senior at the time of the internship preferred
• Must not require sponsorship to work in the United States now or in the future.

$37,752 - 56,650
*This Salary Range reflects a National Average for this job. The actual range may vary based on your locale. Ranges in Colorado/California/Washington/New York/Hawaii/Vermont/Minnesota/Massachusetts/Illinois State-specific locations may be up to 10% lower than the minimum salary range, and 12% higher than the maximum salary range.
