Business Unit Overview:

BlackRock Capital Markets (BCM), a part of BlackRock Global Markets (BGM) is comprised of Liquid Origination & Corporate Solutions. The Liquid Origination team is a centralized, full spectrum platform for all BLK capital markets activities across the primary capital markets. BCM works with the entirety of BlackRock’s investments platform to drive access to liquidity & performance through high quality sourcing of investment opportunities spanning Sovereign, Credit & Equity capital markets. It is a holistic, comprehensive investment platform that provides solutions across the capital stack. BCM helps to deploy public capital in portfolios across the full BlackRock platform. BCM works closely with the Portfolio Management Group (PMG). The Corporates Solutions function is the centralized function through which investment teams access the firm’s Corporate C-suite relationships.

Role Overview:

BlackRock is seeking an Equity Capital Markets Associate in the US, to be based in New York. The individual will have responsibility for supporting pre-IPO and IPO origination efforts, working directly with the regional Head of ECM. The role will require facilitating active engagement with prospective issuers and enhancing connectivity across the ecosystem by supporting relationship-building efforts with various stakeholders, including management teams, VCs, sponsors, advisors and underwriters. There will be an opportunity to gain a broad skillset through deep understanding of the markets in which BCM operate; management of and communications with, key internal stakeholders and external counterparties and corporate issuers; understanding of operational structures and processes with the support to develop efficiencies to such processes; integration into diverse investment processes across sectors and styles.
Responsibilities:

  • Daily management of origination and coverage motions; including building pipeline, dissemination of content and coordination with internal and external counterparties on potential financings.

  • Enhance and expand an existing network with the goal of generating unique investment opportunities for BlackRock clients.

  • Learn and manage a variety of compliance and business reporting systems and processes.

  • Track, prepare and refine Weekly / Quarterly / Annual reporting metrics to establish efficacy and impact of outreach.

  • Fundamental company analysis to drive investment idea generation.

  • Assist the team in evaluating unique investment opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years’ experience in financial services, ideally with a background in M&A, Investment Banking coverage, or Asset Management

  • Skilled in financial modeling, fundamental analysis and valuation

  • A passion for investing and financial markets.

  • Understanding of the financial services landscape

  • Natural curiosity and a willingness to learn.

  • Ability to multi-task in a time sensitive, fast paced environment.

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Self-starter who can work effectively with a team and within a larger organization

  • Proficient technology orientation (Strong Excel skills required; the following a plus: VBA, SQL, & Tableau)

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$116,000.00 - USD$155,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
