We are looking for a Global Payroll Manager to lead the end-to-end payroll function across multiple countries, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for employees in the U.S., Canada, and other international locations. This role partners closely with Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, and Procure-to-Pay stakeholders to drive operational excellence, strong controls, and continuous improvement across payroll processes and systems. The position reports to the Global Lead, Procure to Pay and manages an international payroll team.
Responsibilities:
Global Payroll Operations
- Own and oversee the full global payroll lifecycle, including payroll calendars, processing, validations, approvals, funding coordination, and post-payroll reconciliation.
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time across all supported countries, partnering with in-country providers and internal teams as needed.
- Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), documentation, and service level expectations across regions and providers.
Compliance and Governance (U.S. & Canada Focus)
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of U.S. and Canadian payroll compliance requirements, including tax withholding, year-end reporting, and statutory filings.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state/provincial, and local payroll regulations; monitor legislative changes and implement updates to processes and systems.
- Lead internal control practices related to payroll, including audits, segregation of duties, access controls, and SOX-relevant documentation (as applicable).
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Serve as the primary payroll partner to HR (employee lifecycle events, time/attendance, benefits impacts), Finance/Accounting (GL, accruals, reconciliations), and Procure-to-Pay (vendor/payment processes).
- Coordinate payroll-related accounting activities including payroll journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Partner with Total Rewards/Benefits and Equity teams on payroll impacts of bonuses, commissions, benefits deductions, and equity transactions.
Systems and Process Improvement
- Support and optimize payroll-related systems and integrations, including Workday, E*TRADE (equity transactions), and payroll processors (including One Source Virtual).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, improve data quality, and enhance employee experience.
- Own payroll vendor management: performance reviews, issue resolution, contract/SOW coordination (as applicable), and escalation management.
Leadership and Team Management
- Lead, develop, and coach an international payroll team (Genpact), promoting high performance, accountability, and a customer-focused mindset.
- Set team goals and metrics (accuracy, timeliness, compliance, cycle time) and implement a scalable operating model to support growth and geographic expansion.
- Ensure appropriate coverage, training, and succession planning for payroll operations.
Skills and Experience needed for success in this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of progressive payroll experience, including multi-country payroll operations.
- Demonstrated expertise in U.S. and Canadian payroll compliance (taxation, statutory reporting, payroll regulations).
- Experience partnering closely with HR, Finance, and Accounting to manage payroll impacts, reporting, and reconciliations.
- Strong working knowledge of payroll systems and integrations, including Workday and experience with payroll processors (including One Source Virtual); familiarity with equity platforms such as E*TRADE.
- Proven people leader with experience managing teams across locations/time zones.
- Strong control mindset and experience with audits, reconciliations, and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) and/or CPM (Canadian Payroll Manager) certification.
- Experience managing global payroll in a high-growth, multi-entity environment.
- Experience with SOX controls and payroll risk management.
- Direct experience implementing or optimizing Workday Payroll / Workday integrations.
- Experience managing multiple payroll vendors/providers simultaneously.

Where:
The EverCommerce team is distributed globally, with teams in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Jordan, New Zealand, and Australia. With a widely distributed team, we are used to working remotely across different time zones. This role can be based anywhere in the United States however the ideal candidate would be close to our Denver, CO office. If you’re close to one of our offices, we can set you up in-office or you can work 100% remotely. Please note that you must be eligible to work without sponsorship to qualify for this position, and this role may require travel to our Corporate Headquarters in Denver, Colorado, or to other office locations around North America.

Compensation: The target base compensation for this position is $105,000 to $115,000 USD per year in most US locations. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including location, local market variances, and candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
