About Tenex

The Fortune 500 is rebuilding itself right now. Every company over a billion in revenue is asking the same question: what does it mean to run this business if AI does half the work in five years? Most don't know how to answer. That's why they call us.

Tenex is the partner ambitious companies hire when the stakes are too high to get AI wrong. We embed elite teams directly into their operations, find the bets that actually move the business, and ship the work that makes them AI-native. The clients are sharp. The problems are unforgiving. The work has to land.

We get to do this work alongside the people building the frontier. Anthropic and OpenAI are formal partners, and we sit in the room with their Applied AI teams on real client problems. Vercel, Lovable, and a growing list of the most important companies in AI are partners too. We were the partner Anthropic named on the Claude for Small Business launch, delivering AI fluency training across various US cities, and workflows we built ship inside Claude for Small Business today.

The bar for joining is high. We hire people with high agency and high urgency, who care less about where they trained and more about what they've built. If you want to spend the next chapter of your career at the center of the AI bets that decide where Fortune 500 companies go next, alongside the best operators in the industry and the labs building the technology, this is the place.

About the Role

The Managing Partner's calendar is the firm's bottleneck. Every client escalation, every partner conversation, every decision that needs to happen this week and not next runs through one person. When that person is operating at full speed, the firm moves. When their attention is eaten by scheduling churn, inbox backlog, and follow-ups that fell through the cracks, everything downstream slows with it.

That's the job. You are the operating system for the Managing Partner. You own the calendar, the inbox, the travel, and the hundred small commitments that have to be tracked and closed. You decide what reaches them and what you handle yourself. You are in the room, or close to it, on the most sensitive conversations the firm has, and you treat every one of them with complete discretion.

This is not a role for someone who wants a stable, repeatable week. The work shifts with the firm, the client roster, and the technology. We expect you to use the modern agentic AI stack daily to give yourself leverage, because at Tenex an assistant who automates their own workflow is the only kind that keeps up. If you draft replies by hand that an agent could draft for you, you're doing the job on hard mode, and you won't have time for the work that actually needs a human.

This role works directly with the Managing Partner and across the leadership team. It is based in our New York City office, in person five days a week.

What You'll Do
  • Own the Managing Partner's calendar end to end, with sharp judgment about what gets time, what gets declined, and how the week is sequenced for the highest-leverage use of their attention

  • Run active inbox management: triage everything incoming, draft responses in the Managing Partner's voice, flag what needs them and only them, and make sure nothing of consequence is missed

  • Build AI-native workflows for the work above. Use Claude, Cowork, and lightweight automation to draft, summarize, schedule, and track, so the routine runs itself and you spend your time on judgment calls

  • Plan and book complex travel, including client site visits roughly monthly and the changes that come with a fast-moving schedule

  • Track the Managing Partner's commitments, deadlines, and follow-ups across clients, partners, and the internal team, and close the loop before anything slips

  • Act as a coordination hub between the Managing Partner and clients, partner teams at Anthropic, OpenAI, Vercel, and beyond, and the internal Strategy and Engineering teams

  • Prepare the Managing Partner for what's ahead: briefings before meetings, context before calls, the right materials in the right place at the right time

  • Plan and run logistics for leadership offsites, client dinners, partner sessions, and firm events

  • Manage expenses, vendor relationships, and budgets on behalf of the Managing Partner

  • Handle confidential business, client, financial, and personnel information with the highest standard of discretion

What You'll Bring
  • 3+ years supporting senior executives, ideally a founder, CEO, or partner, in a fast-moving, high-confidentiality environment

  • Proven command of an executive inbox and calendar. You know how to triage, prioritize, draft, and keep a busy principal's communications and time under control

  • Daily, hands-on use of the modern agentic AI stack (Claude, Cowork, ChatGPT, and whatever ships next week). You don't just know these tools exist, you use them every day to give yourself leverage, and you'll learn the next one fast

  • A bias to automate. You see yourself doing the same task three times and you build a workflow so you never do it a fourth

  • Strong organizational instincts and attention to detail. You catch what others miss and nothing falls through the cracks

  • Sound judgment about when to act on your own and when to escalate

  • Clear, precise written and verbal communication. You understand that word choice matters when you're writing on someone else's behalf

  • High EQ and the ability to build trust quickly with people who value reliability over personality

  • Comfort running multiple high-priority workstreams at once without losing quality

  • High ownership, low ego, and a builder's instinct

Bonus Points
  • Background as a Chief of Staff, a founder's right hand, or an ops lead at a fast-growth or AI-forward company

  • A track record of building automations or lightweight tools to streamline your own work, formal or informal. You can walk through exactly what you built, why, and what it saved

  • Experience supporting a principal through travel-heavy, client-facing, deal-driven schedules

Why Tenex

You get to work alongside the people building the frontier, not as a downstream user but next to a team that sits in the room with Anthropic and OpenAI's Applied AI teams. You get to do it in support of someone steering the AI bets that will define the next decade for the clients we serve. The work is real, the consequences are real, and the team you do it with is the kind of group you don't get to assemble twice in a career.

Compensation

Base salary is $65,000 to $80,000, depending on experience. The Executive Assistant also earns a performance-based discretionary bonus. Compensation may also include equity and other long-term incentives.

Benefits
  • Comprehensive medical (PPO and HSA options), dental, and vision

  • HSA, Healthcare FSA, and Commuter Benefits

  • 100% employer-paid life insurance + AD&D

  • 100% employer-paid long-term disability insurance

  • Responsible PTO. Take what you need.

Our Workplace

We work in person from our New York City office five days a week. The best ideas come from being in the same room. Faster collaboration, real-time problem solving, stronger relationships, sharper execution.
