Job Description

The Finance team at Hyperscience is responsible for supporting the strategic growth of Hyperscience in an ever changing environment and for enhancing the company's general accounting and financial operations. Team members are responsible for all day-to-day Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and Accounting activities, ensuring optimal reporting, governance, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and decision making. The team is split between the FP&A and Controller side. 

We are growing rapidly. In this role, the Accounting Manager will spearhead efforts to grow and scale our accounting processes.

The role will report directly to Senior Manager Operations with a dotted line to our Director of FP&A. This role has a solid understanding of GAAP and accounting systems. Hyperscience is looking for a hands-on manager who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting operations including, but not limited to Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Tax Management, and Revenue Recognition, working alongside the current team
  • Help review and analyze the monthly financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Manage a transition to a more sophisticated accounting software (e.g. Netsuite)
  • Create and implement iterative processes around recurring monthly/quarterly/annual financial workflows
  • Establish and maintain documentation of internal controls, policies, and procedures related to financial reporting and compliance
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and GAAP, as well as local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Ensure appropriate controls are incorporated in the development of new systems with a relentless focus to ensure systems are both efficient and scalable
  • Assist in annual audits, financial due diligence, tax filings, clients’ data collection forms and compliance documentation
  • Work with multiple external parties, such as CPA companies and auditors, to ensure compliance at all times

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or MBA preferred. 
  • 5+ years experience within the accounting function preferably including some experience at an early stage software company
  • 2+ years audit experience preferred
  • Prior experience building out accounting processes in a start-up environment with international presence
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP and financial statement preparation, especially ASC 606
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • High level of autonomy and excellent team player
  • Experience with Salesforce, Quickbooks, Netsuite
