Assistant Controller

As our Assistant Controller will support the Accounting function team as we build a scalable infrastructure with strong internal controls. This is a full-time role for which you will directly report to the Controller and will manage a team of three. As a public company, strong attention to detail and an understanding of the importance of consistency and documentation for controls is required. Candidates with prior relevant experience working in a public company or within internet services and/or marketing are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Financial close: Full responsibility for the monthly general ledger close and production of financial reporting packages
- SEC filings: Provide timely assistance in the preparation of assigned sections of the company’s 10-Q and 10-K filings
- Internal controls: Maintenance of SOX documentation and assistance with testing requirements with internal auditors
- External audit: Timely coordination with auditors for the delivery of financial data necessary for quarterly reviews and the annual audit
- Indirect tax: Oversee the preparation of periodic tax filings, required by state and local jurisdictions, such as sales and use tax
- Policies and procedures: Prepare, maintain and update, as directed, critical accounting policies and procedures governing the accuracy of financial reporting
- Systems implementations: Serve as lead accounting resource in the ongoing evaluation and implementation of key applications, including Oracle.
Requirements
- At least five years of progressive, relevant and hands-on experience, including managing and mentoring teams and driving process improvement within an organization
- CPA preferred, but not required
- Relevant exposure working with external and internal auditors, as well as, non-finance department colleagues
- Proficiency in the use of ERP systems, such as Microsoft Dynamics and Oracle
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting
