Senior Accountant, Operations
Jackpocket is the first mobile lottery app in the U.S. that offers players a secure way to order official state lottery tickets, such as Powerball, Mega Millions, and more, via their smartphones. As Jackpocket’s Senior Accountant, Operations, you will work closely with operations stakeholders and play an integral role in the finance function. You will participate actively in month-end close responsibilities, reconciliations, and accounting policy maintenance, as well as strategic aspects of the business including system upgrades and the budgeting process. This role will be the fifth member of a rapidly growing team and report directly to the Finance Manager.
Responsibilities
- Act as the go to liaison between the Operations and Finance department
- Play a key role in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process including preparation of journal entries, general ledger reconciliations and related analyses
- Accurately journalize and maintain all Operating Store Leases under ASC 842
- Participate in the adoption and implementation of new inventory systems for operations materials
- Create detailed documentation and narratives of all procedures, processes, and reconciliations
- Contribute to enhancements and maintenance of a control matrix
- Maintain a thorough understanding of areas of responsibility in general ledger
- Support the external review and audit of the company's financial statements on an annual basis
- Help prepare documents and supporting schedules related to required tax filings
- Research issues, clarify information, and prepare supporting data for accounting position papers
- Special projects as required (i.e. assisting with ad hoc and financial analysis, systems upgrades, tax matters, process improvements, etc.)
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of accounting experience (prior audit experience a plus)
- BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting
- CPA or progress toward CPA required
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced excel skills and the ability to run reports, manipulate and present data in a user-friendly format
- Experience with NetSuite preferred
- Positive and “no task too small” attitude
