The Role

Simon is looking for a capable and versatile finance leader to run our finance function. You’ll report to the SVP of Business Development and Finance and partner with them to design and execute a strategy that uses the finance function to best support the wider business and business outcomes. In this position, you will work closely with the executive team and our functional leaders.

As an initial lean team of one, you will be responsible for all day-to-day financial activities of the business. You won’t be starting from scratch, but there will be the opportunity to accelerate and improve processes and outcomes in a high-growth environment. You will inherit an extensive set of existing policies, practices, workflows, systems, and tools, with the ability to direct our go-forward approach in both our finance and accounting functions. You will be the highest authority when it comes to accounting and compliance.

What you’ll do

  • Track financial status of Simon by monitoring revenue and expenses; coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data
  • Work across the organization to drive the financial planning process & reconciliation to budget
  • Partner with our leadership team on financing strategy and the execution of capital events
  • Responsible for the accuracy of our books and maintaining GAAP compliance for internal and external reporting, auditing, and tax filing purposes
  • Oversee the monthly and annual financial close, including account reconciliations, entering journal entries, and maintaining accurate records and files
  • Develop, implement, and execute processes for the daily operations of the finance department, including invoicing, contract management and payroll
  • Partner with HR function in designing our compensation frameworks and design & monitoring incentive plans with our department leaders
  • Manage relationships with external accounting firms, banks, and investors
  • Analyze business performance and trends and present on them to our executive team

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of applicable experience
  • Experience in an Accounting role as well as an FP&A / Strategic Finance role
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations, procedures, and compliance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to distill complex topics and present them concisely
  • Highly analytical with impeccable attention to detail
  • Self-starter with a relentless focus on execution
  • Resourceful and eager to roll up sleeves
  • Experience in a start-up environment
  • Bonus: experience with SaaS companies
