About Masterworks

Masterworks is the leader in creating investment products for art, and the largest buyer in the art market.  We allow anyone to invest in SEC-qualified shares of multi-million dollar paintings by names like Banksy, Basquiat, and Picasso. We've been covered by The New York Times, CNBC, The Wall Street Journal, and the Financial Times.

About the Role

A core part of our business is events, and we are looking for polished, finance-minded communicators to lead guided museum tours with a focus on prices and trends in the art market to prospective investors at local museums, galleries, and other art-related spaces.

As the on-site Masterworks expert, you will be responsible for using these venues to educate potential investors on the:

  • The Masterworks business
  • Offering them a “market guide,” created for the event or museum/gallery location, which includes the value of artworks in the collection, market trends on different artists, and more
  • Insights into what segments of the art market are most investable and perform the best, and those that do not
  • After the tour, ultimately getting each prospective investor to agree to schedule a meeting to learn more about Masterworks.
Why This Role?
  • Are you looking to launch a career as a Financial Advisor, with real client-facing experience from day one?
  • Are you comfortable talking about markets, returns, and diversification, using art as the asset class?
  • Do you want to build relationships with high-net-worth individuals and understand how they think about their portfolios?
  • Do you want front-line, client-facing experience and a foundation for a career in wealth management, private client services, or investment sales?
  • Do you want to be the in-person face of one of the most talked-about platforms in alternative investing?

If that's you, we'd love to talk.

Path to Licensing

This role does not require a license to start. You'll spend up to your first year building in-person client experience through our investor events program while working toward a Series 65 license, with the goal of transitioning into a book-building Financial Advisor role with Masterworks Advisers.

Responsibilities
  • Host ~60-minute guided museum tours for groups of 8–15 prospective investors 3-5 days per week, from 3pm - 7pm each evening
  • Get 70%+ of groups to schedule calls with Masterworks representatives to learn more about membership and investing in art
  • Own all post-tour follow-up, multi-touch outreach (call, email, text) to every attendee until they book a meeting or opt out
  • Find new ways to invite people to events within your community, by reaching out to angel investing groups, attending community events, and other opportunities
  • Manage on-site event flow: check-in, ticketing, group pacing, and a professional close
Requirements / Skill Sets
  • Background or education in finance, economics, or business
  • Exceptional in-person presence and public speaking, you can hold a room of accomplished adults for an hour
  • Background or education in finance or business
  • Willingness to pursue Series 65 licensing within your first year
  • Genuine interest in the art market as an asset class (a formal art background is not required)
  • Strong, professional written communication for follow-up email and text
  • Highly self-directed and organized, you'll manage your own follow-up cadence between tours without daily oversight
  • Well-networked within your community, belonging to membership organizations and attending community events
Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with financial markets or alternative investments
  • Progress toward Series licensing, CFP, or CFA, or early experience in wealth management, private client, or financial services
Additional Requirements
  • Eligible to work in the US
  • Available to travel locally within the metro to partner museums
  • Reliable availability for daytime and early-evening tours, including some weekends
Compensation

Compensation is $80,000 - $125,000 per year, including on-target incentive compensation

Benefits include: Daily catered lunches · Free admission to art museums and galleries · Health, dental, and vision coverage with FSA options · Paid Parental Leave · PTO and 401k · Happy hours, company outings, and more
