Job Description:
The Financial Planning Analyst will play a key role in supporting SynMax’s financial planning, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.

This is a mid-level FP&A role for a commercially minded, analytically strong finance professional with experience operating in fast-moving, technology or data-driven environments. The successful candidate will support forecasting, reporting, financial modelling, and cross-functional decision support as SynMax continues to scale.

This role combines financial rigour, systems thinking, and business partnering, and will work closely with senior stakeholders across the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Planning & Forecasting
  • Build and maintain driver-based financial models, including forecasts, scenario planning, cash flow models, and unit economics.
  • Support rolling forecasts, annual budgeting, and long-term planning cycles.
  • Develop and refine key financial and operational KPIs.
  • Partner with leaders across Product, Sales, Engineering, and Operations to provide financial insight and decision support.
  • Performance Analysis & Reporting
  • Support preparation of monthly reporting packages for leadership and board-level review.
  • Analyse financial and operational performance against plan, forecast, and prior periods.
  • Identify and communicate key variances, trends, and underlying performance drivers.
  • Strengthen the quality, consistency, and efficiency of financial reporting outputs.
  • Systems & Financial Processes
  • Support the implementation, improvement, or upgrade of finance systems and tools as SynMax scales.
  • Work with data and engineering teams to improve integration of operational data into financial reporting and planning.
  • Contribute to automation of reporting, forecasting, and analytics workflows.
  • Support improvements to financial data quality, structure, and accessibility.
  • Strategic Finance & Business Support
  • Support pricing analysis, scenario modeling, and commercial decision-making.
  • Contribute to financial analysis for new initiatives, investments, or expansion opportunities.
  • Support analysis of revenue performance, customer metrics, and unit economics, as appropriate to SynMax’s business model.
  • Assist with strategic finance activities including fundraising support and investor-related analysis when required.
  • Cross-Functional Business Partnering
  • Act as a finance partner to non-finance teams, helping them understand financial implications of decisions.
  • Translate complex financial analysis into clear, actionable insight for stakeholders.
  • Build strong working relationships across product, commercial, and operational functions.

Required Experience

  • Around 5 years’ experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or closely related finance roles.
  • Experience working in technology, SaaS, or data-driven environments.
  • Strong experience building and using financial models for forecasting and scenario planning.
  • Experience supporting company-wide budgeting and performance analysis.
  • Experience working with modern finance systems, ERPs, or financial reporting tools.

Key Skills & Compentencies

  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret financial and operational data and translate it into insight.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with senior stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience supporting system implementation, transformation, or automation initiatives.
  • Experience working with BI tools or advanced reporting platforms.
  • Exposure to revenue analysis, unit economics, or subscription-based business models.
  • Familiarity with financial data integration or operational systems.
