The Role
Metal is redefining how private markets operate. But lasting impact means our platform has to live inside how firms run their investment process and make decisions. The Forward Deployed Investor is how we get there.
You'll sit at the intersection of top-tier investment teams and their AI evolution, pairing deep private markets expertise with real customer empathy and a strong instinct for how AI reshapes an investment firm. You'll help customers rethink the way they work, and translate what you learn on the ground into Metal's product and go-to-market direction.
You'll work directly with the founding team and our most strategic customers to drive adoption and ROI. You are the voice of the customer across Product and Sales, and one of the people deciding how private investors operate in an AI-driven world.
What You'll Do
Define how AI is used in private markets. Identify and expand high-impact use cases across sourcing, diligence, and decision-making, and turn what works into best practices and deployment frameworks for how investment teams adopt Metal.
Shape product and go-to-market strategy from the field. Translate first-hand customer insight into clear product direction, influencing Metal's roadmap, positioning, and sales motion.
Drive use-case expansion and growth. Uncover new workflows, teams, and applications within customer organizations, partnering with Sales to execute expansions and deepen Metal's footprint.
Build a scalable deployment model. Turn successful implementations into repeatable onboarding, enablement, and rollout frameworks that scale across customers.
Own value realization for strategic customers. Ensure Metal is embedded in core investment workflows, delivering measurable adoption and ROI.
Act as a trusted advisor. Partner with deal, operations, and data teams to evolve workflows over time and support long-term adoption.
Develop champions and advocacy. Build durable relationships, enable internal champions, and convert successful deployments into references and market credibility.
Who You'll Work With
Metal's founding team, including the CEO, CPO, and CTO, to shape how investment professionals engage with the platform.
Cross-functional leaders across Strategy, Sales, Product, and Engineering, aligning client outcomes with product direction.
C-suite executives, deal partners, and operating leaders at top private capital firms, helping them turn investment expertise into a technology-driven edge.
What We're Looking For
You've done the work yourself. 3-5 years in private equity, growth equity, or management consulting, with hands-on deal execution and diligence. You understand the investment process front to back, down to the details that make it actually tick.
You build with AI, you don't just follow it. You use AI routinely in your own work, spin up your own agents and workflow augmentations, and stay fluent in a toolkit that changes every month. You see where it goes next before most people do.
Exceptional executive presence. You engage persuasively with partners, principals, and C-level stakeholders, and build relationships that last.
Entrepreneurial mindset. You thrive in ambiguity, take initiative, and are motivated to build the blueprint others will follow.
You want to build the category. You're excited to define a new layer of investment infrastructure, not just join an existing one.

Salary Range (OTE): $150,000 to $200,000 USD, depending on experience.
