About FLORA

We are building the first creative operating system: an infinite canvas designed for the generative computing paradigm. We’re a team of ~45 focused on elevating professional craft, backed by tier-one investors including Redpoint, Menlo Ventures, and a16z, as well as founders like Guillermo Rauch and Justin Kan. Our platform is already the choice of world-class creative powerhouses like Pentagram, Lionsgate, and Nike.

About the role

We're hiring a Senior or Staff Data Engineer to build FLORA's data function from scratch. You'd be the first data hire, working directly with the CTO and Head of Product to define what data means here: how we capture it, store it, analyze it, and turn it into decisions.

You'll wire up our warehousing and pipelines, pin down the metrics that actually matter (activation moments, power users, engagement quality), and build dashboards that get used. Our PostHog telemetry is live. The broader data model is yours to design.

You'll work closely with our growth engineering team: you design the tracking model, they instrument against it. Vendor decisions are yours too, picking BI tooling, making the infrastructure calls that'll hold as we scale.

What you'll do

  • Audit existing PostHog data, events, and user behaviors

  • Design and implement data models with solid metadata collection

  • Stand up data infrastructure, warehousing, and processing pipelines

  • Evaluate and select core technologies

  • Build executive-level BI dashboards that drive product and growth decisions

We're looking for

  • 6+ years in data engineering or analytics engineering (former people managers returning to IC work are strongly encouraged)

  • Proven ability to work on your own; you're the first data hire and we're counting on your judgment

  • Deep SQL fluency and strong fundamentals in at least 1 modern data platform (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, ClickHouse, MotherDuck etc.)

  • Hands-on infrastructure experience: you've set up pipelines, defined schemas, made tooling decisions from scratch

  • Strong product instincts and real business curiosity; you know what to measure, what's vanity, and how to frame findings for stakeholders

  • A hypothesis-driven approach; you ask questions about the business, not just the query

  • Comfort in hypergrowth; you can build fast and build for scale

  • Availability to work in-person 5 days a week

Nice to have

  • Python proficiency (preferred, though we're flexible on other languages)

  • TypeScript; we're a full-stack TS shop and you'll collaborate closely with engineers

  • Deep PostHog experience (cohorts, funnels, feature flags, warehouse sync)

  • Experience with activation models, conversion rate analysis, and A/B testing

  • Background in SaaS/web app analytics, or adjacent fields like supply chain or finance

  • Experience with creative tools or product-led growth companies
