About Preql

Preql helps enterprises clean, unify, and govern messy internal data so it actually works for AI, analytics, and reporting. We work with large organizations navigating complex data environments and high-stakes operational workflows. Based in New York, our team comes from data infrastructure, AI, and enterprise software.

How we work

We’re a small team with little bureaucracy. Leadership expects individuals to take ownership, move quickly, and make good decisions for the company with support from their teammates.

Outcomes over activity: the curious do well here, are comfortable operating in ambiguity, and are willing to form opinions and act on their convictions instead of waiting for instructions.

About the role

As our first dedicated GTM hire, you will own enterprise deals from first conversation through implementation, including discovery, demos, POCs, closing, and early customer expansion.

The role blends elements of both an AE and a Solutions Engineer. We’ve found the best enterprise sellers can move comfortably between executive conversations and technical workflows, and that deals move faster when one person owns and understands the full thread.

You’ll be selling to executives who are mostly finance and data leaders evaluating real AI initiatives. That means you should be able to talk credibly about AI: where it’s useful, where it isn’t, and how modern AI systems differ from older automation approaches.

You’ll work closely with the founders on our growing pipeline, help shape our sales motion, and influence where the company goes next. While most of our current customers are in financial services, the product has broader applications.

What you’ll do
  • Own the full enterprise sales cycle, with an emphasis on financial services

  • Run discovery and demos tailored to the customer’s actual workflows and priorities

  • Build and scope POCs directly in Preql

  • Lead technical conversations with data and engineering teams

  • Lead business conversations with finance stakeholders including CFOs and FP&A leaders

  • Build relationships across the buying committee, not just with a single champion

  • Handle deal execution end-to-end: security reviews, procurement, forecasting, contracts, and implementation planning

  • Stay involved through launch and early expansion

  • Bring product and market feedback directly back to the team

  • Help define the GTM playbook for future hires

What we’re looking for
  • 5+ years in sales, solutions engineering, and/or as data practitioner within financial services

  • Experience selling into enterprise organizations

  • Experience in financial services and/or finance orgs, and deep familiarity with their unique data challenges

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders

  • Comfortable working directly with founders and operating without a lot of structure

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-aware, low ego, and focused on outcomes over optics

Nice to have
  • Experience selling into banks, asset managers, or private equity firms

  • Familiarity with financial data workflows like reconciliation, allocations, or GL structures

  • Experience with ERPs, data warehouses, FP&A tooling

  • Background in solutions architecture, forward deployed engineering, or technical implementation roles

  • Experience helping build an early-stage sales motion

If you don’t meet every requirement but the role feels like a fit, we’d very much like to hear from you.
