  • Location: New York City

  • Schedule: In-office, 5 days a week

  • Reports to: CEO

  • Compensation: $160K to $200K (depending on experience) + equity

The Company
Rounder is an early-stage startup, venture-backed social platform for the betting generation. You join your friends on the app and create bets, talk trash, and settle scores, from betting on the Oscars and the Super Bowl to who Ella will bring as a date to the party on Saturday. We cover sports, pop culture, and everyday life, and you can form private groups. You earn your bragging rights and banter on any prediction.

The role

The Founding Marketing Lead will own all of marketing at Rounder. This includes strategy, brand, social, community lead, events, organic, and creative behind our paid ads. We are already running ads through an agency and have early creator and community programs. What we do not have is the person who sets the strategy, decides what Rounder sounds like, and makes the brand show up every day in the places our users already are.

The brand opportunity is big. Rounder sits where sports, pop culture, and group chat humor meet, and the product generates its own content: the receipts, the hot takes, the bad calls on the record. The right person will turn that into a voice people follow and a set of communities people want to be in. This position will be hands-on in creative, campaign development and management, and tracking, with the keen ability to change course as needed. You will also work closely with the leadership team to develop marketing strategy as we grow and scale.

What you will own

  • Marketing strategy — Positioning, messaging, and the plan. Which games and moments we market, to whom, and how.

  • Brand and voice — What Rounder sounds like across the app, the socials, the ads, and the press.

  • Social — Run Rounder's accounts (X, TikTok, Instagram and wherever our users are) and the topic-account strategy (dedicated accounts for the NBA, the Oscars, F1, reality TV, and so on that aggregate takes and predictions). Daily posting, live moments, reactive content.

  • PR — Press strategy, launch announcements, founder and partner stories, and relationships with sports, tech, and culture media. You will work with an outside firm if and when we need one.

  • Community — Build and run the programs that make people feel part of Rounder: creators, campus ambassadors, fan communities around specific sports and shows. Own the creator playbook and briefs.

  • The function — Tools, freelancers, the first social media manager hire, and the budget.

What we are looking for

  • 4 - 8 years of experience in social media marketing and growth

  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience with social media and running campaigns — you create the campaigns and run them, you brief the creators, you pitch the reporter, and you track and test the results.

  • 2+ years of recent experience working with stakeholders to plan and develop strategy.

  • You are fluent in the culture our users live in: entertainment, sports, reality TV, pop culture, awards, etc.

  • You have experience building a consumer brand's voice and presence more than once, ideally in sports, entertainment, gaming, pop culture, or other social, mobile app. You can show us accounts, campaigns, or communities you grew and what they did for the business.

  • You are a strong writer and a natural on social. Funny when it fits, fast when the moment is live, and sharp about what a brand should and should not say.

  • Experience and opinions on the latest marketing tools.

  • Experience managing vendors and agencies.

  • You know how PR works and you have landed coverage without a big budget.

  • You track the work you do and have experience changing course based on tracking data

  • You run on a calendar. Sports seasons, award shows, and live events are the rhythm of this job, and you plan weeks while reacting in minutes.

Nice to Have

  • Experience at an early-stage startup

  • A portfolio or site that shows your success with building a consumer brand’s voice

Rounder is an equal opportunity employer. We evaluate candidates based on their ability to do the work and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
