About Warp

Warp is building self-driving employee management. Payroll, tax compliance across thousands of jurisdictions, benefits, IT, and HRIS that runs autonomously so companies never have to think about back-office operations again.
We process hundreds of millions in payments across 1,000+ companies. Revenue has grown 5x+ YoY for two years. We're a team of ~40 in NYC in Flatiron, scaling fast, and expecting to be 100 people by end of year.
The incumbents (ADP, Paylocity, Paychex) built their businesses by profiting from complexity. Even the modern players are bolting chatbots onto legacy systems. Warp is built from day one for AI to be the primary operator, not a feature. Every advance in LLM capability widens our lead.
We hire people who ship constantly, own outcomes, and care about craft. We're in the office five days a week because speed and proximity are a competitive advantage at this stage. If you want to build something that automates an entire category of core work, not just another point solution, this is the place.
Backed by $25M+ from Ashton Kutcher/Sound Ventures, Y Combinator, founders of Dropbox, Replit, SV Angel, and Homebrew Capital. Built by an obsessive team from MIT, Ramp, Brex, Google, Dropbox, Apple, and more.

Why This Role Exists

In the last four months, we've grown from 9 to 33 people. By the end of 2026, we're targeting 70-100. We need someone to take full ownership of how we build the team for this next phase, designing, scaling, and executing recruiting from first principles.

You'll partner directly with founders to turn ambitious hiring goals into a repeatable, high-signal hiring engine. You'll define who we hire, how we hire, and how we show up to the talent market. This is a founding role with real impact, real ownership, and real expectations.

About the Role

As our first recruiting hire, you'll own hiring end-to-end across the company, with a near-term focus on GTM roles (account executives, SDRs) while supporting technical hiring as needs shift. You're a generalist who can recruit across functions, but you're especially sharp on the revenue side.

You'll work directly with the CEO and hiring managers to define what great looks like for every role, then go find those people. This is a sourcing-heavy role. We care more about your ability to build a pipeline from scratch than manage inbound volume.

This role reports to the COO. This is a fully in-person role in our Flatiron office; we do not offer remote or hybrid options.

What You'll Do
  • Source and close. This is a sourcing-heavy role. You're building a pipeline from scratch across GTM and technical roles, not waiting for inbound. Most of your week is outbound.

  • Run full-cycle recruiting. From first outreach to signed offer, you own it. Engineering, product, design, sales, partnerships. Whatever we need filled, you're filling it.

  • Recruit across GTM and technical roles with equal confidence. You understand what makes a great AE different from a great engineer, and you can speak credibly to both. Right now, GTM hiring is the priority.

  • Keep the machine running. Manage our ATS (Ashby), keep pipeline data clean, track metrics like time-to-fill and source of hire, and flag blockers early. You're organized enough that we always know where we stand.

  • Work directly with founders and hiring managers to define what great looks like for each role, align on priorities, and move fast through the process.

  • Represent Warp to candidates. You're often the first person a candidate talks to. Tell the story well, be honest about what we are (and aren't), and get the right people excited.

What We're Looking For
  • 2-5 years of full-cycle recruiting experience, ideally in an early-stage or high-growth startup environment

  • Proven track record sourcing and closing GTM roles (AEs, BDRs, partnerships), with experience or comfort hiring technical roles too

  • A relentless sourcer. You know how to hunt, not just manage inbound.

  • Experience partnering directly with founders and senior leadership on hiring strategy

  • High ownership mentality and comfort operating in ambiguity

  • Strong communication and closing skills; able to clearly and compellingly represent the company

  • Hands-on experience with modern ATS and sourcing tools (we use Ashby and LinkedIn Recruiter)

  • Based in NYC and committed to being in the Flatiron office 5 days a week

Even better if you have
  • Experience as an early or founding recruiter at a startup

  • Background hiring in fintech, infrastructure, or AI companies

  • Familiarity with employer branding and early-stage talent marketing

How We Work

We're a small team that moves fast and cares deeply about craft. A few things that define us:

For the love of the game. We build because we're obsessed with the work. Late nights happen. Not because someone asks, but because the problem is interesting and the stakes are real.

Slope over starting point. We hire for rate of growth, not pedigree. If you're the kind of person who figures things out before anyone hands you a playbook, you'll thrive here.

Speed is the culture. Warp is named after speed for a reason. We ship fast, iterate constantly, and don't wait for perfect conditions to move.

Compensation
  • $125,000 - $175,000 plus equity based qualifications of candidate.
