ABOUT THE ROLE

LayerZero is redefining how value moves across chains at internet scale. Our Finance team is a strategic partner to the business — turning data into decisions that shape how we invest, hire, and grow.

We’re looking for a Strategic Finance Lead to help build the financial operating system for LayerZero. This person will partner closely with the CFO and executive team on planning, forecasting, resource allocation, and financial decision-making across the company. This person will partner closely with the CFO and executive team on planning, forecasting, resource allocation, and financial decision-making across the company.

You’ll own the company’s core operating model, lead planning and reforecasting cycles, build reporting for leadership and the board, and bring financial rigor to major investment decisions. This is a high-impact role on a small finance team, ideal for someone who has operated in high-growth environments and wants to build the Strategic Finance function from an early stage.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Own Company-Wide Planning & Forecasting

  • Lead the annual operating plan, long-range plan, quarterly reforecasts, and monthly outlooks across the company.
  • Own the integrated three-statement and driver-based operating model — the source of truth for budget, forecast, and scenario work.
  • Run the cadence: planning calendar, target-setting, allocation, and approval workflows with the CFO and executive team.

CFO-Level Business Partnership

  • Partner directly with executive and functional leaders (Engineering, Product, Marketing, BD, G&A) on resource allocation, headcount strategy, and major investment decisions.
  • Lead monthly and quarterly business reviews — own the narrative, the variance story, and the forward-looking call to action.
  • Pressure-test strategic initiatives, new product investments, and potential inorganic opportunities with financial rigor and clear ROI framing.

Board, Investor & Executive Reporting

  • Lead preparation of board materials, investor updates, and executive operating reviews.
  • Own KPI definitions and reporting across the company — ensure the leadership team is operating from a shared set of numbers.
  • Build the company’s financial narrative for internal and external audiences.

Crypto-Native Strategic Finance

  • Build the financial framework for token economics, on-chain revenue, ecosystem incentives, and digital asset flows.
  • Partner with Accounting, Treasury, and Legal on token compensation programs and capital strategy.
  • Develop scenario models that capture the growth profile of an omnichain protocol company.

Build the Strategic Finance Function

  • Build the strategic finance function, including hiring and development talent as the team scales.
  • Stand up the planning tech stack — ERP, EPM/planning tool, BI — and the data pipelines that feed them.
  • Define the financial operating system: cadence, templates, ownership, and standards that scale with the company.
  • Raise the analytical bar across the business and build a culture of financial discipline.
ABOUT YOU
  • 4-8+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, strategic finance, investment banking, private equity, or management consulting; meaningful in-house experience at a high-growth tech, fintech, or crypto company required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Math, or a related quantitative field. MBA, CFA, or CPA a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience owning a company-wide planning cycle and partnering with C-suite stakeholders.
  • Best-in-class financial modeling — you’ve built and maintained the operating model that the CFO and CEO rely on.
  • Proven people leadership — you’ve hired, managed, and developed strategic finance talent.
  • Strong executive presence and communication; able to drive a room of senior stakeholders to a decision.
  • Deep experience with NetSuite (or comparable ERP) and modern planning tools (Anaplan, Pigment, Cube, Mosaic, Adaptive, or similar).
  • SQL or BI tool fluency (Looker, Tableau, Hex) strongly preferred.
  • Genuine interest in crypto, blockchain, and the LayerZero mission; exposure to token models, on-chain data, or digital asset accounting a strong plus.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous, multi-entity environments — you bring structure where there is none.
  • Track record of building — you’ve stood up an Strategic Finance function or a meaningful piece of one from scratch.
