Freelance Piercer (NYC)

Catbird is seeking a licensed and enthusiastic professional piercer to be a part of launching our branded piercing services at Catbird’s retail locations. The ideal candidate is passionate about piercing artistry and jewelry styling -- as well as holds a natural strength in delivering excellent guest experiences.

This is a freelance & event based opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with Catbird’s marketing and retail team to launch branded piercing services, guiding the full guest experience from in-take forms, styling, piercing, and aftercare. 
• Deliver a warm and knowledgeable piercing experience while maintaining high standards in safety and cleanliness. 
• Experienced in compliant setup and breakdown of piercing appointments. 
• Contribute to Catbird’s ear styling content via social media. 
• Manage piercing supply inventory. Assist in training and onboarding of new piercers.

Our Ideal Candidate

• New York State required licensing and permits, CPR and first aid training, OSHA bloodborne pathogens training.
• Minimum 3+ years with single needle piercing at a reputable establishment. 
• Experienced in communicating aftercare best practices.
• Passionate about developing your piercing artistry and ear styling with Catbird’s signature range of earrings. 
• Knowledgeable about the full range of piercing-ready earrings and styles appropriate for new and healed piercings. 
• Up to date on all trends in ear piercings; passionate about building on the Catbird piercing experience as our services evolve. 
• Experienced in using an autoclave machine and all required piercing tools. 
• Strong knowledge of health and safety protocols surrounding piercing procedures.
• Understanding of local market piercing law requirements.
