The Financial & Strategic Investors Group (FSIG) is transforming BlackRock’s global relationships with large asset owners such as insurers and sovereign wealth funds by supporting their evolving investment, portfolio, and business needs. Today, FSIG comprises three areas: BlackRock’s relationships with world’s most sophisticated Asset Owners (i.e. central banks, multilateral development banks and sovereign wealth funds), Financial Markets Advisory (FMA), and the Global Financial Institutions Group (FIG). FMA delivers a range of capital markets, balance sheet management, and risk & analytics advice to banks, insurance companies and official institutions. FIG is the world's leading insurance asset management business. FSIG has a unique opportunity to anticipate clients' needs and reinforce BlackRock’s reputation with governments and large corporations, by better connecting investors and asset owners.

 

Position Overview

The Financial Institutions Group is continually evolving to meet our clients’ changing needs, expanding our insurance asset management capabilities beyond public assets. With the recent acquisitions of strategic partnerships in GIP and HPS, we are introducing additional private credit solutions. Our ambition is to increase assets under management in both public and private credit, thus further enhancing our value proposition. The role will support the Director of Platform Transformation in creating sales enablement by evolving the asset management operating model to support our expected growth into complex asset classes and new strategic client partnerships.


The candidate should possess strong analytical skills and be able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. We are seeking a professional with experience in investment management consulting or working on large, complex projects involving process or technology transformation. The individual should be eager to join a high-performance asset management firm like BlackRock and should possess excellent project management capabilities along with strong quantitative, communication, and analytical skills.

 



Specific responsibilities include:


  • Establish robust project plans: craft clear objectives, defined goals and timelines with final approval from the Platform Transformation Director. The plan should provide status updates and highlight conditions for success to maintain progress and execute on deliverables.

  • Governance: maintain timelines and agenda collectively with the Director to hold task owners accountable for deliverables. Collect feedback from working groups on the progress of assigned tasks, organized in scorecards to measure effectiveness of each process.

  • Lead the coordination of stakeholders: ensure key stakeholders are identified and priority of attendance is communicated with clear directives on workstream or task ownership through establishing working groups and identifying accountable executives as key decision makers.  

  • Organize and produce executive level communications: own and develop weekly and monthly communication summaries to keep key decision makers updated and support cascading messaging on projects to senior executives and the broader client business as appropriate.

  • Team Collaboration: work with other FSIG COO team members on projects identified as important to evolve the operating model including having partnership with the Technology Lead to facilitate improvements to the use of CRM, and other applications used by the client business.

  • Risk & Complexity Pipeline: Create process to review and manage pipeline of large/complex opportunities requiring the build out of specialized operating models under the supervision and approval of the Platform Transformation Director.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, project management or a related field

  • 2-4 years of experience working in project management or consultant type of role with exposure to capital markets or investment advisory capabilities

  • Advanced knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel and experience using Visio would be beneficial

  • Highly motivated and able to operate in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment and can take direction from multiple senior stakeholders

  • A “student of the market” with curiosity to learn and explore new processes at an enterprise level across the firm

  • Strong technical abilities, including the ability to work with large quantities of different data to identify and present trends and information to executive leadership

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with proven ability work independently while delivering under tight deadlines.

  • Preferred experience with project management methodologies such as Waterfall, Lean, Six Sigma or Agile with expressed interest in Scrum or Kanban frameworks.

  • Familiarity with project management techniques such as Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Critical Path Method (CPM), Gantt Charts, Risk Management, and Resource Leveling/Smoothing

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$100,000.00 - USD$130,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
