1. Bama Kicks — Impact Investment Company

Bama Kicks is an impact-driven investment and venture-building company wholly owned by the Foundation. It funds and scales businesses that advance economic inclusion and community ownership through:

• BKVC Venture Fund – invests in early-stage, mission-aligned startups.

• SmaBizFund – offers $10K microloans to small businesses and local entrepreneurs.

• Idea Factory Venture Studio – incubates and launches new ventures rooted in community needs and equitable design.

All profits from Bama Kicks flow back to the Foundation to expand its programs and impact.

2. BKG — Agency & Consultancy

BKG is the Foundation’s in-house agency and consultancy, providing strategic, design, and operational expertise to both internal ventures and external partners.

By offering consulting services in product, brand, and systems design, BKG helps organizations adopt equitable practices while generating revenue to sustain the Foundation’s broader mission.

3. Human Development Center

The Human Development Center serves as our research and learning arm, focused on understanding how humans can progressively build and sustain equitable systems as our world evolves.

Using cross-disciplinary models, data, and human-centered research, the Center explores areas such as:

• Future of work and ownership

• Inclusive governance and cooperative economics

• Human potential, creativity, and well-being within equitable systems

About BKG

BKG is a consultancy and creative technology agency that builds digital products, tools, and experiences for modern brands. We blend strategy, design, and engineering to help clients move fast, think clearly, and ship meaningful work.

We’re a small, high-performing team that values curiosity, ownership, and craft — working across product launches, internal tools, web apps, and mobile experiences for clients in technology, commerce, and culture.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Full Stack Engineer who thrives at the intersection of design and technology — someone equally comfortable architecting APIs in Ruby, crafting elegant frontends in React, and building mobile apps that feel native and fast.

You’ll collaborate with the Sr. Strategist to translate ideas into production-ready experiences, take the reigns as the first Engineer. From rapid prototypes to polished products, you’ll help us ship work that’s fast, thoughtful, and reliable.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain full-stack web and mobile applications

• Develop backend services and APIs (REST and GraphQL) using Ruby on Rails and Node.js

• Implement clean, scalable frontends with React, Next.js, and TypeScript

• Build and maintain mobile apps using React Native and Flutter

• Integrate third-party APIs and platforms (payments, auth, analytics, etc.)

• Manage deployments and environments using AWS, Vercel, and Docker

• Optimize performance, scalability, and security across the stack

• Participate in code reviews, technical planning, and architecture discussions

Tech Stack (Preferred)

• Frontend: React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS

• Backend: Ruby on Rails, Node.js (Express/NestJS), Python (FastAPI/Django)

• Mobile: React Native, Flutter, Swift/Kotlin (nice to have)

• Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Firebase, Supabase

• Cloud & DevOps: AWS, Vercel, Docker, CI/CD pipelines

• Bonus: AI API integration, headless CMS (Sanity, Contentful), or data visualization

Qualifications

• 3–7+ years of experience as a full stack or product engineer

• Strong experience with Ruby on Rails, React, and mobile frameworks

• Proven ability to ship and maintain production-quality web and mobile apps

• Understanding of UI/UX principles and responsive design

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

• Comfortable working in fast-paced, creative, and client-facing environments
