CAIS is seeking a Senior Associate to join the Fund Controlling team within Fund Management. This role will primarily focus on overseeing fund NAV production and related financial reporting activities while also managing fund audits and supporting the broader accounting and operational needs of the funds. The ideal candidate has strong alternative investment audit or fund accounting experience, can work independently across multiple stakeholders, and is proficient in using AI and automation tools to improve processes and controls.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the monthly hedge fund and quarterly private equity fund NAV production process performed by third-party fund administrators, including review and validation of administrator-delivered NAVs.
- Coordinate annual fund audits from planning through completion, including managing timelines, preparing supporting documentation, responding to audit requests, and resolving open items.
- Review financial statements, audit workpapers, NAV files, and supporting accounting records for accuracy and consistency with fund governing documents.
- Liaise with auditors, third-party administrators, tax providers, valuation specialists, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely completion of NAV, audit and tax reporting deliverables.
- Support tax filings, investor reporting, capital calls, distributions, cash management, reconciliations, accounts payable, and expense allocations.
- Evaluate accounting and operational implications of fund terms, investments, valuations, credit facilities, and other fund activity.
- Strengthen controls, documentation, and reporting while using AI and automation tools to streamline audit preparation and other fund accounting processes.
- Support additional fund accounting, operational, and strategic projects based on business needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related discipline; CPA or progress toward a CPA is a plus.
- 4–6 years of experience in public accounting, fund administration, or fund accounting, with meaningful responsibility for audits of alternative investment funds.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, audit procedures, U.S. GAAP, fund valuations, NAV calculations, and alternative investment fund structures.
- Experience managing audit deliverables and coordinating across auditors, administrators, tax providers, and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Excel and AI tools, with demonstrated experience using technology to automate processes, analyze information, and improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Strong attention to detail, judgment, organization, and ability to independently manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

CAIS’ compensation package includes a market competitive salary, a performance bonus, and exceptional benefits. If you are located in New York, New York, the base salary range for this role is $121,500.00 - $148,500.00. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
