About the position
Our goal is to give you a real sense of what it's like to work at Jane Street full time while also providing a truly unparalleled educational experience. As an intern, you'll be paired with full-time employees who act as mentors, collaborating with you on real-world projects we actually need done.
As a Fundamental Research Analyst Intern, you'll join our fundamental research teams in Equities and Commodities. You’ll learn how we integrate in-depth research with the firm's core quantitative strategies, and develop specific investment theses. Your diverse day-to-day work will help us discover new ways to expand our trading opportunities.
You'll work on live projects that combine big-picture strategic thinking with detailed data analysis and trading decisions. Your key responsibilities will include identifying and analyzing fundamental trade ideas, preparing for market catalysts, and developing the financial and statistical modeling for a variety of asset classes and time horizons. Throughout this process, you'll coordinate closely with various internal stakeholders and groups to gather essential information and feedback.

About you
If you have a curious mind, a collaborative spirit, and a passion for solving interesting problems, we have a feeling you'll fit right in. We're more interested in how you think and learn than what you currently know. You should be:
- Studying toward a degree in business, economics, or a quantitative field is preferred
- An effective communicator
- Highly analytical and logical thinker; comfortable working with numbers
- Genuinely curious about financial markets and eager to understand the key factors that influence them
- Humble about what you know and don’t know; not afraid to ask questions
- Extremely organized with excellent attention to detail
- Familiar with accounting, financial statement analysis, and financial modeling is a plus, but not required
- Prior experience with Python is a plus, but not required
