Trueline is seeking a General Ledger Manager to join their finance team in New York City (hybrid, 3x/week onsite). This is a strategic opportunity for a hands-on accounting leader who thrives at the intersection of traditional finance and emerging technology, including AI and process automation.
What You'll Do as the General Ledger Manager:
- Lead day-to-day operations of the general ledger team, overseeing accounting functions including journal entries, payroll entries, reconciliations, and fixed assets
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with firm standards
- Coordinate and prepare for external audits, including drafting financial statements and supporting documentation
- Collaborate across departments such as Financial Planning & Analysis, Payroll, Tax, and IT to align GL processes with broader firm initiatives
- Drive modernization efforts including system upgrades, automation tools, AI adoption, and real-time reporting dashboards
- Act as the business owner for GL system improvements and cross-functional workflows
- Mentor a small but growing team, with one direct supervisor report and two junior team members under their purview
Must-Haves as the General Ledger Manager:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Accounting experience in a law firm environment
- At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role
- Strong foundation in GAAP and internal controls
- Experience in professional services, law firms, or similarly structured environments
- Proven ability to drive or participate in process improvements and cross-functional collaboration
- Comfort managing deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced setting
Nice-to-Haves as the General Ledger Manager:
- CPA certification
- Exposure to AI or RPA tools and implementation efforts
- Familiarity with Power BI or other financial analytics platforms
This Role Offers:
