When clients need capital, Global Capital Markets (GCM) responds with market judgments and ingenuity. Whether executing an IPO, a debt offering or a leveraged buyout, GCM integrates Morgan Stanley’s expertise in Sales and Trading and Investment Banking, offering clients seamless advice and sophisticated solutions. GCM originates, structures and executes public and private placement of equities, investment-grade and noninvestment-grade debt and related products. The group provides fresh ideas and broad distribution to help clients get the most out of each stage of a transaction, and continually develops capital markets solutions to enable clients to mitigate strategic, operational, credit and market risks. Balance Sheet Solutions is a product agnostic team within our GCM division, working with financial institution clients to optimize their balance sheet across profitability, capital, interest rate risk, funding & liquidity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with Investment Banking team to identify opportunities for balance sheet optimization, both in M&A context but also in regular way dialogue
  • Design tailored solutions for our clients based on the modeling and analytics conducted including compelling business development and client materials
  • Run detailed, client-specific, analysis for clients
  • Present model results and analysis to clients in a compelling and concise manner to inform their decision making with respect to a transaction
  • Develop a knowledge base across a number of product verticals across the balance sheet
  • Coordinate with internal business units to source new business opportunities, manage active transaction pipeline

    Qualifications:

    • You have an ability to manage multiple projects, provide complicated financial analysis, and develop appropriate corporate finance solutions.
    • Experience in Investment Banking, Capital Markets, and/or Corporate Finance
    • Extraordinarily high level of motivation and commitment to working hard
    • Extraordinarily high level of focus on work quality and attention to detail
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Commercial instinct and ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines
    • Interest in developing a career in Global Capital Markets
    • Series licensing or must obtain

    Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $225,000 per year for Associate, and $275,000 per year for VP, at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
