The Investment Grade Corporates group sits within Global Capital Markets and partners with corporate clients and Investment Banking coverage teams to provide strategic financing advice and execute investment-grade debt offerings. The team advises clients on capital structure optimization, funding strategies, liability management, refinancing opportunities and market execution across a broad range of fixed income products, including senior unsecured debt, hybrid securities, sustainability-linked financing and other investment-grade capital solutions. The group works closely with Investment Banking, Syndicate, Sales & Trading, Research and institutional investors to deliver best-in-class execution for corporate issuers.

Our New York office is looking for an Associate to join the Investment Grade Corporates team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in the origination, structuring, marketing and execution of investment-grade debt capital markets transactions.
  • Prepare client presentations, financing analyses, capital structure reviews, market updates and transaction materials.
  • Support senior bankers in developing financing strategies for corporate clients, including new issuance, refinancing and liability management transactions.
  • Coordinate execution processes across internal partners, including Syndicate, Sales & Trading, Legal, Operations and Investment Banking coverage teams.
  • Monitor capital markets, interest rate movements, credit spreads and issuance activity to provide timely market intelligence to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain detailed financial analyses, comparable issuance analyses and debt market valuation materials.
  • Participate in client meetings, due diligence sessions and transaction execution.
  • Assist with marketing efforts, investor communications and transaction documentation throughout the execution process.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional motivation, attention to detail, strong work ethic and sound judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong interest in Debt Capital Markets, Investment Banking and fixed income markets.
  • Analytical, quantitative, adaptable, proactive and team-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • High proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Commercial mindset with an understanding of macroeconomic trends, interest rates and credit markets.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA, CA and/or CFA designation is a plus.
  • Approximately 3–4 years of experience in Investment Grade Debt Capital Markets, Corporate Banking, Investment Banking or a related financial institution.
  • FINRA licensing (SIE, Series 79, Series 7 and Series 63) or willingness to obtain upon joining.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $225,000 per year for Associate, at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
