Own Rounder’s growth strategy from cold start through early traction. Identify beachhead communities, drive invite loops and group formation, run weekly experiments, manage paid acquisition, grow creator and campus programs, and track acquisition, activation, retention, attribution, and viral growth metrics. The role combines hands-on community seeding, campaign execution, creator outreach, analytics, and product collaboration to build a repeatable growth engine for a consumer social betting app.

  • Location: New York City

  • Schedule: 5 days a week in-office

  • Reports to: CEO

  • Compensation: Base range is $120K to $170K, depending on experience + equity

The Company

Rounder is an early-stage startup, venture-backed social platform for the betting generation. You join your friends on the app and create bets, talk trash, and settle scores, from betting on the Oscars and the Super Bowl to who Ella will bring as a date to the party on Saturday. We cover sports, pop culture, and everyday life, and you can form private groups. You earn your bragging rights and banter on any prediction.

The Role

Rounder has a cold start problem, and you have solved one before. A social betting app is worthless with no friends on it, and we need the first thousand groups, then the first ten thousand, formed by people who actually come back. Your job, as Growth Lead, is to get Rounder into the market and make the early numbers real.

This is a hands-on role. There is a paid acquisition engine running with an agency, a creator program starting, and the strategy for a rough campus pilot. What is missing is the Growth Lead, who owns the whole growth loop, picks the beachheads, runs the experiments, and does the unglamorous work of seeding communities, texting creators, standing in a student union, and watching the install-to-group-formed funnel every day.

What you will own

  • The cold start plan — Pick two or three beachheads (campuses, creator audiences, calendar-driven fan communities) and get them dense enough that the product works for the people in them before widening.

  • The invite loop — Onboarding pushes group formation. You own invite rate, groups formed per new user, and K-factor, and you work with product and design to move them.

  • Launch moments — The sports and culture calendar is our drumbeat (NBA opening, Thanksgiving, playoffs, Super Bowl, award season, reality TV launches, etc.) You plan and run the push around each one.

  • Experiments — A weekly cadence of growth tests with a clear hypothesis, a cost, a reach estimate, and a kill or scale decision. Lots of guerrilla tactics encouraged.

  • Paid acquisition — Direct the agency: creative, targeting, which games we advertise, and the path from today's CPA to where it needs to be. Own attribution and the weekly scorecard (installs by source, invite rate, groups formed, pick-through, D1/D7, cost per activated user).

  • Creators and communities — Grow the creator and campus programs from pilots into a repeatable playbook

  • The growth stack — Analytics, attribution, referral tooling, lifecycle messaging.

What we are looking for

  • 2 - 6 years of experience in a growth position where you increased user acquisition and virality in a meaningful way.

  • Experience with growth for a consumer social app or something with the same network dynamics, from zero to its first real traction. You can tell us what the cold start problem was, what you tried, what failed, what finally worked, and the metrics behind it all.

  • Experience with a successful growth campaign — You are a builder and an operator at once. Comfortable in a spreadsheet, an ad manager, a DM thread with a creator, and a campus event in the same week.

  • You run experiments properly — Hypotheses, instrumentation, honest reads, fast decisions.

  • You understand the difference between installs and a working network. Density, invite loops, and retention cohorts are how you think.

  • You are scrappy and a little relentless. You find the ten people who matter in a community and get them in.

  • Metrics-driven, in the weeds, understanding the K factor. Real-time is so key.

  • You must have current knowledge and interest in sports, betting, entertainment, fantasy or fan communities, and pop culture.

Nice to have

  • Experience as a campus ambassador, creator, or community-led growth, where you created the playbook(s) you have run yourself.

  • Experience with user acquisition for a social app for sports, betting, entertainment, fantasy, fan communities, or pop culture.

Rounder is an equal opportunity employer. We evaluate candidates based on their ability to do the work and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
