About us

Garage powers the exchange of critical assets across America’s essential industries. We started with fire departments, where purchasing mission-critical vehicles and equipment used to take months of paperwork, phone calls, and delays. Our agentic platform automates the entire transaction: discovery, payments, freight, paperwork, warranty, and financing. What once took months now takes minutes.

In under a year, we’ve expanded to cities and towns in all 50 states and grown revenue more than 10x. Based in New York, we’ve raised $18M from Y Combinator, Initialized Capital, Infinity Ventures, FJ Labs, and other leading investors. We’re moving fast, growing quickly, and just getting started.

About the role

We’re looking for a strong marketing generalist who spikes in the channels we own — email, SMS, and push — to be a key driver of growth and retention. You'll architect distinct journeys for buyers and sellers, finding ways to convert, re-engage, and streamline the buying and selling experience for our customers. This is a versatile role on a lean team, and you'll need to intimately understand the customer journey, marketing mix, and broader business goals.

You'll build this function from close to zero, with a strong creative team to pull from and a talented product team to support your programs.

  • Build and scale our owned channels. Architect and execute programs for both sides of the marketplace across email, SMS, and push. Your goal is to drive customer success and revenue growth through our most direct channels.

  • Turn users into customers. Help new users find success on the platform, quickly. Turn prospective buyers and sellers into transacting customers by understanding their needs and creating touch points that move them forward.

  • Turn customers into advocates. We have a lot of happy customers and want to amplify their voices. Build referral, affiliate, and advocacy programs that turn successful customers into repeat users and growth drivers.

  • Retain and re-engage. Drive repeat transactions and customer engagement post-sale. Map user journeys and identify opportunities and triggers to re-engage.

  • Balance supply and demand. Use lifecycle programs to improve liquidity, engagement, and transaction volume across both sides of the marketplace.

What we’re looking for

  • You love the energy of a high-growth environment where every day looks a little different

  • You’re able to go deep on lifecycle marketing but can think and work like a generalist

  • You have good judgment, high integrity, and a no-task-too-small mindset

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

  • 4+ years of experience owning lifecycle marketing in a high-growth company

  • Have built and scaled lifecycle programs hands-on

  • Are T-shaped: deep in lifecycle and versatile across growth and marketing — comfortable wearing multiple hats to drive results.

  • Fluent with Customer.io or similar platforms and comfortable in the data behind it

  • Can co-design systems with engineering and spec out the right events/triggers to feed the system

  • Comfortable testing and iterating quickly with analytical rigor

  • Thrive with high autonomy in an early, ambiguous environment

Nice to have

  • Experience scaling marketplace businesses

Our values

  • Growth oriented. We invest in people who grow as the company grows. We all should be constantly learning.

  • Humility. Everyone has a lot to give and a lot to learn. We believe in creating an environment where the best ideas win and acknowledging when we are wrong.

  • Customer focused. We have a genuine love for our customers. Customer success is our success.

  • Hack to success. We move fast and take big swings. We always aim for a solution that addresses 80% of the problem in 20% of the time. We make informed bets, launch quickly, and iterate.

Why Garage?

  • Our product is something people use everyday to buy the equipment local communities everywhere depend on.

  • We’ve grown revenue over 10x in the last year and are well capitalized with $18M in funding raised total.

  • We have a talent-dense, high-performing team from Ramp, Twitter, Goldman Sachs, Bilt, Wise, Unify, Honey, PayPal, and more.

  • You’ll be one of our first 35 employees, operating as a foundational member of the team, partnering alongside the company’s founders.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary and stock options

  • Health, dental and vision insurance (100% covered)

  • Unlimited paid time off every year (in addition to company observed holidays)

  • Daily lunch and dinner

  • $100 monthly wellness stipend

  • 401(k) with employer match

  • Pre-tax commuter benefits

  • Bi-annual team offsite

  • Relocation assistance
